Job description

We’re currently connecting with experienced professionals who are strong critical thinkers and problem solvers, and who are comfortable working with, testing, and challenging AI systems. This opportunity is particularly well suited to independent contractors who enjoy digging into complex problems, questioning outputs, spotting errors or gaps in reasoning, and determining how an AI response could be improved.

About the opportunity

As an AI Subject Matter Expert, you’ll use your professional expertise and judgment to test and evaluate AI-generated responses. Rather than simply reviewing whether an answer is right or wrong, you may be asked to challenge the AI’s reasoning, research complex questions, identify inaccuracies or inconsistencies, compare different outputs, and provide thoughtful feedback that helps improve the model.

A few key details:
• Independent contractor opportunity
• Fully remote
• Flexible, self-managed schedule
• Approximately 10–40 hours per week, depending on project availability
• Projects and workloads may vary over time
• Compensation varies by project and required expertise, with many projects paying approximately $40–$75 USD/hour and highly specialized projects potentially paying more
• Work must be completed independently and without external AI tools unless specifically permitted by the project

Who we're looking for

We’re particularly interested in professionals who:
• Have strong subject matter expertise in their field
• Are comfortable interacting with and testing AI tools
• Are naturally curious and willing to challenge an AI response rather than take it at face value
• Have excellent critical-thinking, research, and problem-solving skills
• Can identify subtle errors, inconsistencies, or gaps in reasoning
• Are comfortable working independently in a flexible contractor environment

Candidates who move forward will be required to complete an assessment designed to evaluate critical thinking, research, reasoning, and written communication.

We appreciate the time and effort all applicants invest in their submissions. Please note that only candidates shortlisted for this role will be contacted directly. However, your profile will remain under consideration for future opportunities that align with your experience and career goals. All qualified applicants will receive fair consideration for employment. We welcome individuals of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities including those who identify as women, members of racialized groups, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. If you require an accommodation, please review our accessibility policy and reach out to our accessibility officer with any questions. Our human recruiters review all applications and always make the final hiring decision. On occasion, we also use AI-assisted tools to help review applications.
