Job description

Work setup: Field-based
Schedule: 13 hours per day, 3 days/week (potentially including Saturday)

General Summary:

The Appliance Delivery Driver is responsible for operating a 20–26 foot truck and providing white glove delivery and installation of home appliances. Working in two-person teams, the driver ensures timely and professional service, including safe loading/unloading, basic appliance installation, haul-away of old units, and maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction. This is a key customer-facing role that involves navigating stairs, maneuvering heavy items, using safety equipment and handheld devices, and maintaining accurate documentation. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, service-oriented, and committed to delivering a seamless, damage-free experience to every customer.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate a 20–26 foot truck in accordance with traffic laws and company policies.
  • Complete pre-trip inspections and maintain accurate trip logs to comply with motor vehicle regulations.
  • Load trucks securely, ensuring route optimization (e.g., last stop loaded first); unload undeliverable items or returns with proper documentation.
  • Perform white glove delivery of appliances (e.g., refrigerators, washers, dryers), including room-of-choice placement, unpacking, and debris removal.
  • Conduct basic installations: level and connect freestanding electric appliances to existing power/water sources, perform plug-and-play tests, and check for proper functionality.
  • Provide value-added services such as haul-away of old units, door reversals, and stacking of laundry appliances/pedestals.
  • Remove doors or doorways as needed to complete safe and damage-free entry.
  • Use a handheld device (Android) to update delivery status, capture photos, and submit Proof of Delivery (POD), ensuring 99% compliance.
  • Immediately report equipment or app issues to supervisors.
  • Follow safe handling procedures and use appropriate tools (e.g., blankets, straps, dollies, booties) to prevent damage.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the truck and report maintenance issues as needed.
  • Adhere to Canadian regulations for hazardous materials and recycling of haul-away appliances.
  • Re-inspect delivery paths after installation to prevent property damage; promptly report any incidents.
  • Document lost, stolen, or damaged items with photographic evidence and complete BOL/POD for freight claims.
  • Immediately escalate property damage (e.g., water, fire, injury) and assist with resolution and documentation.
  • Meet key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, completion rate, handheld compliance, and customer QOS scores.
  • Collaborate with teammates to complete 18–20 deliveries per day and support up to 15% additional volume during peak times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behaviour in line with company standards.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Valid Class 3 driver’s license with a clean driving record (driver’s abstract required).
  • 5+ years of experience operating 20–26 foot trucks.
  • 1+ years of appliance delivery and basic installation experience in a high-volume setting.
  • Familiarity with white glove delivery standards and basic appliance installation tasks.
  • Physically capable of heavy lifting, stair navigation, and manual handling of large items using proper techniques and tools.
  • Able to work effectively with a delivery partner and follow instructions.
  • Comfortable using handheld devices and delivery management systems.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, SOPs, and hazardous material handling.
  • Must be fluent in English and French (written and spoken).
  • High school diploma required.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm under pressure, flexible with schedule changes, and responsive to feedback
  • Professional demeanor, high standards, integrity, and a results-driven mindset.

Working Conditions:

  • Field-based role with repetitive heavy lifting, stairs, and exposure to varied customer environments.
  • Shifts are typically 13 hours per day, 3 days per week (including potential Saturdays). Shift times may change based on operational needs, with adequate notice provided.
