Help Shape the Future of Crean Hill!

Magna Mining is looking for an experienced Chief Mine Engineer to lead mine engineering, planning, and design at our Crean Hill Mine.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in how Crean Hill develops — leading mine planning and design, supporting safe and efficient underground operations, and working closely with Operations, Geology, Maintenance, and other technical teams.

We’re looking for a strong technical leader who can see the bigger picture, make sound decisions, and turn good engineering into practical plans that work underground.

We’re looking for more than a strong technical engineer. We need a leader who can see the bigger picture, make sound decisions, challenge assumptions, and turn good engineering into practical plans that work underground.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the development and optimization of underground mine designs.
  • Oversee short-, medium-, and long-term mine planning and ensure alignment with production objectives.
  • Integrate geotechnical, ventilation, and hydrogeological requirements into mine designs and plans.
  • Partner with Geology and Operations to align mine plans with resource models, development priorities, and production targets.
  • Lead mine development projects from concept through execution.
  • Oversee scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation for mine development and related infrastructure.
  • Identify technical and operational risks and ensure appropriate controls are incorporated into mine plans.
  • Monitor development and operational performance against key targets and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other departments to coordinate development and production activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and practical engineering support to resolve day-to-day mining challenges.
  • Ensure engineering designs and mine plans meet regulatory, environmental, and company requirements.
  • Provide clear reporting on mine plans, costs, performance, risks, and project milestones.
  • Manage relationships with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the mine technical services team while building strong engineering capability for the future.

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
  • Hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or are eligible to obtain one.
  • Bring 8+ years of underground mine engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Have strong experience with underground mine planning, design, scheduling, and development.
  • Understand underground mining methods, particularly ramp access and lateral development.
  • Are highly proficient with mine planning and design software.
  • Bring strong knowledge of underground mining regulations and safety requirements.
  • Understand budgeting, cost control, project management, and the operational realities behind a mine plan.
  • Can lead and develop a technical team while building strong relationships across departments.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and can confidently make and defend engineering recommendations.
  • Are comfortable making decisions, taking ownership, and adapting as operational priorities evolve.
