Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Business Analyst Lead based in Canada.

The Data Business Analyst Lead transforms complex business data into clear, actionable insights that support informed decision-making. This role combines advanced data visualization, analytical problem-solving, and business intelligence to help teams better understand performance and identify opportunities for improvement. You will design and optimize dashboards, reporting solutions, and self-service analytics tools that make information accessible and useful across the organization. Working closely with business stakeholders and data professionals, you will translate operational needs into effective technical solutions. You will also help standardize and automate analytical processes, improve reporting practices, and promote data literacy through guidance and training. This is an opportunity to contribute to strategic business decisions while providing specialized analytical expertise in a collaborative environment.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of reporting and data visualization solutions, ensuring that business teams can turn complex information into meaningful decisions. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Design and develop dashboards, reports, and analytical tools using appropriate data extraction, cleansing, and visualization techniques.

    • Transform raw data into actionable business insights by identifying trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.

    • Select, configure, and implement analytical solutions that support consistent, repeatable reporting and decision-making.

    • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and assess existing data visualization systems to identify improvements.

    • Develop intuitive visualizations for large datasets, making complex information accessible to business leaders and decision-makers.

    • Collaborate with business units, operational teams, data professionals, and other stakeholders to improve the usability and effectiveness of analytical solutions.

    • Document data flows, systems, and processes to strengthen the design, implementation, and management of business operations.

    • Create tools and deliver training programs that help non-analytical users adopt reporting solutions and self-service analytics capabilities.

    • Provide specialized guidance, analytical support, and technical assistance to relevant teams.

    • Independently investigate complex or non-routine issues, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions within established guidelines.

    • Apply sound risk management practices, ensuring that decisions align with business strategy, internal policies, regulatory requirements, and the organization's risk appetite.

    • Focus primarily on a specific business area or operational group while contributing to broader organizational initiatives when required.

    • Requirements

The ideal candidate combines substantial professional experience in business analysis and data visualization with strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You should be comfortable working independently, translating business needs into technical solutions, and presenting complex information clearly to different audiences.

      • 5–7 years of relevant professional experience, supported by a post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

      • Advanced technical knowledge developed through significant education or practical professional experience.

      • Strong expertise in data visualization, data exploration, and the design of presentations that communicate complex information effectively.

      • Experience developing dashboards, analytical reports, and visual storytelling solutions for business stakeholders.

      • Ability to interpret data, identify trends and patterns, and translate findings into practical business recommendations.

      • Strong understanding of technical design optimization and the ability to evaluate and improve existing analytical systems.

      • Demonstrated decision-making, systems thinking, and creative problem-solving capabilities.

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

      • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and stakeholder groups.

      • Sound analytical judgment and the ability to make data-driven decisions.

      • Ability to manage non-routine situations independently and resolve issues within established guidelines.

      • Benefits

        • Salary range: CAD 65,000–130,000 per year, depending on location, experience, education, skills, and qualifications.

        • Potential performance-based or discretionary bonuses and other rewards, depending on the compensation structure.

        • Health insurance coverage.

        • Life and accident insurance.

        • Retirement savings plans.

        • Tuition reimbursement to support continued education and professional development.

        • Access to training, coaching, leadership support, and networking opportunities.

        • An inclusive, equitable, and accessible working environment.

        • Work arrangement: Full-time, remote position based in Ontario, Canada.
