Job description

At Loblaw Digital, we know that our customers expect the best from us. Whether that means building the best, most innovative online shopping experiences, or designing an app that will impact the lives of people across the country, we’re up for the challenge. Loblaw Digital is the team responsible for building and operating the online businesses of Canada’s largest and most successful retailer. Based in downtown Toronto, we are an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and collaborative team working towards transforming the way Canadians shop by creating leading eCommerce experiences in the online grocery shopping, beauty, pharmacy, loyalty, and apparel spaces, and we’re only just getting started! To achieve these goals, we are looking for talented and passionate individuals who want to collaborate and solve challenging problems and make significant and lasting impact on Canadians.

As a Director, Strategy & Operations, you will report to the Sr. Director, Strategy and Operations. You will partner with business and functional leadership teams at Loblaw Digital to develop strategic plans that identify opportunities, risks and metrics to measure outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Independently lead high-priority, cross-functional initiatives from problem definition through implementation and measurement

  • Form hypotheses, conduct research and develop quantitative analyses that identify and size opportunities, risks and strategic choices

  • Create concise executive narratives and materials for leadership meetings, enterprise forums, external meetings and company-wide communications

  • Design and implement improvements to organizational processes, governance, operating rhythms and cross-functional ways of working

  • Build alignment between Loblaw Digital leaders and Loblaw enterprise partners, resolve dependencies and help teams move from discussion to decision

Does this sound like you?

  • Seven or more years of relevant experience, with progressively greater responsibility

  • A demonstrated record of taking ambiguous questions from initial hypothesis through analysis, recommendation, implementation and measurable outcome

  • Strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to work hands-on with data, quantify opportunities and risks, test assumptions and build compelling business cases

  • Experience influencing senior leaders and resolving disagreement without relying on formal authority

  • Strong execution and change-leadership skills, including the ability to establish plans, governance and measures of success

  • A record of coaching colleagues, developing talent and improving the quality of a team’s work

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to make complex issues clear and facilitate productive executive discussions

  • Curiosity about digital consumer experiences, retail and e-commerce and emerging technologies

How You’ll Succeed

At Loblaw Digital, we seek great people to continually strengthen our culture. We believe great people model our values, are authentic, build trust and make connections. We’re able to keep innovating because our colleagues are passionate about their work and excited about the future of eCommerce.
