  • Review weekly air quality and noise and vibration reports and proposed mitigations and advise/monitor construction teams accordingly.
  • Attend construction meeting and provide advice and recommendations for improving environmental protection and correcting any inefficient practices and/or issues of non-compliance within 24 hours of noticing a potential issue.
  • Prepare non-conformance reports, spill reports, and other environmental incident reports, and notify regulatory authorities as required and follow-up with them on corrective actions taken.
  • Interface with environmental subconsultants as required.
  • Assist with collecting environmental samples and measurements, including soil, groundwater, stormwater discharge, dust, noise and tree protection zones.
  • Assist environmental team members with other reporting such as annual compliance reports and environmental trackers.
  • Willing and able to respond to evening and weekend calls, as required.
  • Additional tasks as defined by the Environmental Compliance Officer, Environmental Manager, or Environmental Director.

Experience You Will Bring:

  • A diploma or a bachelor or advanced degree in an environmental related discipline (ecology/biology/environmental science) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • A minimum of three to five years of demonstrated work experience in all aspects of environmental monitoring and mitigation during roadway construction or construction of transit infrastructure, specifically with respect to work in and around watercourses and in the application and correction of erosion and sedimentation control measures, reporting Spills and the containment of effluent and dust during construction.
  • Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC), or have proven proficiency in observing, inspecting and reporting on the implementation of Erosion and Sediment Control Plans.
  • Full Canadian driver's license with a clear drivers abstract.
