Job description

Executive Associate to the Managing Director

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Garrington Private Credit is a North American private credit fund focused on originating and managing senior secured, asset-backed loans to lower middle-market businesses, including small- and medium-sized operating companies and lender finance platforms across North America.

The Garrington Private Credit Strategy (the “Garrington Strategy”) was launched in May 2015 and has a proven track record of managing third-party investor capital for over ten years. The firm partners with family offices, RIAs, private banks, and select institutional allocators across both onshore and offshore markets.

Garrington Capital, the firm's lending business, is headquartered in Toronto, has been operating since 1999 and is now one of Canada’s largest non-bank private lenders. Over the past 25 years, we have provided more than $5 billion in financing.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Executive Associate to the Managing Director is a high-visibility role that reports directly to the Managing Director and works in close partnership with them on the firm's capital raising and operational activities. This individual will shadow the Managing Director day-to-day, joining virtually every investor and borrower call, information session, and webinar, and will be responsible for turning what is discussed and promised on those calls into timely, accurate action.

This is not a traditional executive associate role. The successful candidate will be embedded in the rhythm of a C-suite executive's calendar and workflow, gaining first-hand exposure to how capital is raised, how investor relationships are built and maintained, how the business's origination and operational functions run day to day, and how a deal moves from first conversation to close. In return, the firm expects a high level of organization, discretion, initiative, and follow-through.

The role is best suited to someone who is motivated by the opportunity to learn quickly in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment, who takes ownership of tasks without needing to be asked twice, who is capable of managing a team, and who is genuinely interested in building a long-term career in capital raising, investor relations, and executive management – with the ambition and capability to grow into a senior leadership role over time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

INVESTOR RELATIONS

  • Attend all investor calls, information sessions, and webinars alongside the Managing Director, taking detailed notes on discussion points, questions raised, and commitments made. Identify every promise made during a call (materials to send, questions to answer, introductions to make, next steps to schedule) and action them promptly and accurately.
  • Coordinate and send all follow-up materials to investors and prospects, as promised.
  • Track outstanding follow-ups to completion, escalating to the Managing Director where a decision, reminder, or input is needed.
  • Help prepare materials and talking points ahead of calls, meetings, and webinars.
  • Ensure every contact is added to Salesforce CRM, LinkedIn contacts, and the contact database promptly and accurately following every call or introduction.
  • Maintain clean, up-to-date records of interactions, materials sent, and follow-up status.
  • Ensure all contacts continue to receive ongoing materials, updates, and communications.
  • Proactively follow up on outstanding conversations in a timely manner, without waiting to be prompted.
  • Assist with outbound business development activity, including identifying and researching prospective investors and referral partners.
  • Work closely with the Investor Relations team to support the broader investor communications and subscription process.
  • Assist with answering due diligence questions.
  • Act as an additional point of contact for investors on administrative or follow-up matters.
  • Help coordinate logistics for investor meetings, calls, and travel where required.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

FIRM/OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT

  • Attend all management meetings alongside the Managing Director, taking notes and tracking action items.
  • Support the day-to-day management of the Managing Director's direct reports, helping ensure priorities, deadlines, and deliverables are on track.
  • Keep the Managing Director organized on commitments, deliverables, and follow-ups arising from management meetings, proactively flagging what's due and when.
  • Help coordinate cross-functional priorities between the Managing Director's team and the broader business.
  • Progressively take on greater responsibility and decision-making authority, with the goal of being able to step in for the Managing Director when needed.
  • Perform other operational or firm management duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

We are looking for someone who is hungry to learn, comfortable with a high-accountability role, and excited by the prospect of working directly alongside senior leadership in a capital raising environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Education related to finance, business, or a related field.
  • A genuine interest in learning the capital raising, private credit, or alternative investment business from the ground up.
  • A valid passport and the flexibility and willingness to travel internationally as needed – including, but not limited to, to the United States, South America, South Africa and Europe – to support investor meetings and industry events.
  • A willingness to work outside standard business hours when investor calls, time zones, or deadlines require it.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple follow-ups and deadlines simultaneously.
  • A career interest in capital raising, investor relations, sales, or business development, with a long-term view toward growing within the space.
  • A strong work ethic and the willingness to invest the time and energy required to learn the business and make the most of this opportunity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the professionalism required to represent the firm in front of investors.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment, with the adaptability to shift priorities as the Managing Director's schedule and needs evolve.
  • A high degree of discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential investor and business information.

WHY JOIN US

  • Join a collaborative team within a leading alternative lending and private credit firm.
  • Salary range of $125,000-$175,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus comprehensive healthcare, dental, and vision benefits. If this role grows into a bigger position down the line, there's room to increase compensation beyond this range.
  • Direct, sustained exposure to a C-suite executive and first-hand insight into how a capital raising business is run at the highest level.
  • Accelerated learning across capital raising and business development, and opportunities for professional growth.
