Job description

About Sprout

At Sprout, our mission is to make fertility and family-building accessible to all Canadians, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, or family structure. The journey to parenthood can be emotionally, physically, and financially challenging, and too many people go through it without the support they need.

Nearly half the Canadian workforce is in peak family-building years, yet most benefits plans weren't built for this journey. The toll shows up at work - in attrition, lost productivity, and added HR burden. Sprout is one platform that supports people through the full continuum, from the moment they start thinking about family-building to their first day back at work.

We’ve just closed our seed round and are expanding the platform, growing the team, and deepening our partnerships across the benefits industry. The people we hire now will play a pivotal role in shaping Sprout’s future.

The role

This is Sprout's first marketing hire. We're looking for a creative, hands-on marketer to shape how Sprout shows up, and to do the work that keeps us showing up, week after week.

For most families, their Sprout journey begins with a decision someone else makes for them: a broker bringing us to a client at renewal, an insurance carrier adding us to their benefits plans, or an HR team choosing to invest in their people. Our marketing has to make families want Sprout, and provide decision-makers with every reason to say yes. It has to be clear enough for a broker to explain in two minutes, credible enough for an insurance carrier to put its name next to, and warm enough that an employee in the middle of their family-building journey feels truly supported.

You’ll own marketing end to end. That means writing the story and getting it out - the quarterly newsletter, the Linkedin post, the HR roundtable discussions, the launch kits for a new employer. You’ll work with our founders on positioning, the sales team on messaging, and with our Head of Design on everything visual.

We're a small team, we plan to stay lean, and we believe that one great marketer who embraces AI can do the work of a team of 3 or 4. We want someone who's excited to prove it. For us, that comes down to two things. The first is craft, you have a good eye, you care about the details, and you take pride in doing work well. The second is building with AI, you're comfortable setting up the workflows that handle research, drafting, and shipping, so your time goes to the parts that need your judgment.

If you're great at this, you'll have a clear path to building and leading marketing at Sprout as we grow.

What you’ll do

  • Run our channels: own our email, LinkedIn and content strategy and calendar, and keep them moving every week.
  • Build our community: grow a community of HR leaders and brokers who want to learn from us and from each other. Plan and run the events that bring them together, from small roundtables to industry events, logistics included.
  • Run lifecycle campaigns: design, test, and run the nurture campaigns that take people from first interest to long-term partnership.
  • Equip partners and employers: create the sales collateral partners need to recommend Sprout, and the launch toolkits, communications, and case studies that drive employee enrolment and utilization.
  • Sharpen our message: work with our founders to turn our positioning into words that land with each audience, and with our Head of Design to keep our voice consistent everywhere we show up.
  • Be the voice of our customers: stay close to the people who use, buy, and recommend Sprout, and bring what you learn back into our campaigns and content.
  • Build how we work: set up the AI tools, workflows, and routines that let one person do the work of a team, and do it well.

Who you are

  • You're an exceptional writer - it's the most important skill for this role. You can make a complex benefit feel simple and adapt your voice for a broker, an HR leader, or an employee.
  • You have 6+ years of B2B marketing experience, with hands-on depth across content, email, events, and brand messaging. You’ve done it at a small company, doing the work yourself rather than managing agencies.
  • You have a high bar for what good looks like. You can point to work you’re proud of, explain what makes it great and measure outcomes.
  • You're self-directed - you can take an ambiguous goal, turn it into a plan and see it through without being chased.
  • You balance data and empathy - you set up your own reporting and let results guide you. But you also know that marketing a family-building benefit takes as much warmth as numbers.
  • You use AI every day in your work; you can show us how, and you know where it helps and where it doesn't.
  • You're low-ego - you're as comfortable shaping our story as you are packing boxes for an event.
  • Bonus: you’ve worked in group benefits, HR tech, or health tech sold through employers, and you know what earns the trust of brokers and carriers.

How we work

  • GTA-based, with flexibility on where you work day to day and access to our Toronto office. You'll need to be local for events and in-person support
  • Async-friendly and outcome-focused - we care about what you accomplish, not whether you're online at a particular time
  • Small team with high ownership - you'll work closely with the founders and have visibility into almost every part of the company
  • We use Slack, Google Workspace, Figma, and HubSpot to collaborate

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation + stock options: you'll have comprehensive health and wellness benefits, plus meaningful ownership in the company you're helping build
  • Unlimited vacation: we trust you to manage your time and take the time you need
  • Remote flexible: work from home or use our downtown Toronto office
  • Impactful work: your work will directly influence what Sprout builds, how we operate and where we go next

We aren’t just building a company; we’re creating a world where family-building is accessible to everyone. If you want to lead at the intersection of technology, health, and deeply human experiences, we’d love to meet you.
