Job description

Health PEI is seeking Hematologists to provide treatment for hematologic malignancies for patients across the province.

You will work closely with a small group of Medical and Hematologic Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Family Medicine (GPO) and Nurse Practitioner colleagues. Services are provided at the PEI Cancer Treatment Center, attached to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, and our satellite clinic located at the Prince County Hospital in Summerside. You will be expected to share on call service with the other physicians, share coverage with colleagues for vacations and absences, and provide limited inpatient consultations and inpatient care.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is a secondary care facility with a wide variety of medical, surgical and laboratory services. For specialized surgeries and for hematologic transplant services we work closely with colleagues in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Appointments at the regional medical schools are an option.

Prince Edward Island offers a truly unique opportunity for physicians seeking a meaningful and impactful medical career.

Prince Edward Island may be small, but it boasts a robust healthcare system that is streamlined under a single health authority. Here, you’ll experience great collaboration enabling you to influence care and implement improvements more readily than in larger jurisdictions. In addition, you will be known not just as a healthcare provider but as a valued community member, seeing your patients and co-workers not just in clinical settings but as neighbors and friends.

In addition to professional fulfillment, practicing in PEI means living in one of Canada’s most scenic destinations. With its safe, welcoming communities and breathtaking landscapes year-round, PEI offers both natural beauty and an exceptional quality of life. Whether you seek a small urban or rural setting, you’ll have access to outdoor activities, fresh food from our land and sea, and a vibrant arts and cultural scene.
