What is the Opportunity?

Aecon Civil is a recognized leader in the market, backed by strong self perform capabilities and deep local expertise. We play a key role in building and enhancing infrastructure across Canada, the U.S., and an expanding international footprint improving everyday life through the roads, bridges, tunnels, and transit systems that connect communities. With more than a century of experience and a full suite of integrated services, Aecon is a trusted partner for delivering complex civil projects, including tunnels, transit expansions, airports, ports, highways, and large scale site development.

As an IDD Manager, BIM & Digital Engineering and member of the Integrated Digital Delivery function your contribution is essential to enable Aecon to achieve its vision. Integrated Digital Delivery aims to provide a project ecosystem to facilitate and enable, rather than to check and control, through consistent assessment of emerging technologies to enhance value of the entire lifecycle of our projects.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Overall accountability for enabling BIM, GIS and digital construction across project disciplines (Design, estimating, planning, construction).
  • Provide leadership, support and co-ordination across all technical work streams, during each stage of a project from design through to construction. Technical work streams may include but are not limited to all engineering disciplines, design management, digital engineering, sustainability, engineering surveying, asset management and industrialization.
  • Ensure delivery of BIM and GIS in accordance with Aecon’s IDD BIM related processes and procedures and support the IDD Director with future developments.
  • Ensure the right resourcing profile for the IDD teams on the project, based on the BIM goals set in the bid phase.
  • Manage the link between the Client’s BIM representatives, the consultant BIM team, Aecon (and any JV partner) and any subcontractors’ BIM teams. The role will support the project Technical Directors to enable BIM outcomes and ensure the information is delivered to program and coordinated between engineering disciplines, organizations and packages.
  • Ensure the BIM requirements set on the project support digital integration across all project functions.
  • Ensure validation reports verify Information Models in accordance with ISO 19650 and the Institute for BIM in Canada toolkit.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • 5 - 10 years of relevant experience on large infrastructure projects.
  • Large infrastructure BIM implementation experience.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training plus experience and knowledge of civil construction practice.
  • Excellent knowledge of BIM standards (ISO 19650 / Institute for BIM in Canada).
  • Experience with model federation platforms such as Assemble Systems, Navisworks and Bentley Navigator.
  • Experience in the implementation of Common Data Environments such as ProjectWise and Aconex.
  • Detailed understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards and their impact on project activities.
  • Working knowledge of EHS regulations.
  • Experience across all stages of a project lifecycle.
  • Experience working within construction project environments.
  • Experience on large complex infrastructure projects would be desirable.
  • Understanding of design and construction phases and alignment with the Digital Plan of Works.
  • On-site construction experience would be desirable.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) are essential.
  • Excellent customer service skills, a passion for problem ownership, and a customer first attitude.
  • Proven experience in priority setting, multitasking, and working with minimal direct supervision.
  • Bilingual (French and English) would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel to site and be mobile for projects.

We are proactively and continuously seeking IDD/BIM Manager professionals to join Aecon to support future needs. Submit your resume to be considered for future opportunities!

The expected pay range for this role is $100,000 - $130,000 per year.
