Job description

We help communities grow and prosper through the delivery of easy-to-use digital services enabled by our integration solutions. Connecting systems and automating the flow of data transforms the work of our customers. They are able to connect their systems to simplify their users’ lives, empower teams with data to make better decisions, and transform inefficiency into innovation. We directly affect the lives of millions of citizens, rate-payers, businesses, and students.

We’re looking for an Integration Specialist or Integration Developer who is fascinated by building or implementing no-code / low-code solutions that are configurable and easily supported. You might have a qualification in software engineering, geomatics, or computer science, but you definitely have a passion for data and ensuring that customers can access and exchange data through our integration solutions in aviation, cities and towns, and buildings and campuses that power real change. You’ll also be a friendly, driven self-starter who can work autonomously – we were always a remote-only operation, and the pandemic has only made our work easier to manage and deliver remotely.

Note that you will not be creating maps, doing geospatial analysis, or doing other traditional GIS work. You will be transforming, relating, combining, and moving data (and potentially geospatial data) as part of integration of applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop data integrations, ETL workflows and automations using (primarily) FME
  • Take part in business requirements gathering and design activities. Review client data and systems.
  • Develop custom libraries, web services and applications using a variety of programming languages/frameworks and cloud technologies
  • Deliver training sessions to clients on the use and administration of implemented data integrations
  • Provide estimates for the level of effort required to complete statements of work
  • Support our managed integration services, troubleshoot and resolve reported issues
  • Highly desirable: Develop custom components in Salesforce using Lightning
  • Develop custom GIS Javascript clients leveraging Leaflet or OpenLayers that interface with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, or the ArcGIS Platform-as-a-Service

Qualifications

Your personality matches our core values:

  • Belief in our Work: We help people and businesses grow and we love doing it.
  • Humility: We always have time to help our team and our customers. There is no room for egos.
  • Accountable Experts: We own our commitments and deliver on them.
  • Creativity: We believe new ideas are messy and making mistakes is part of progress.

And, work is but one aspect of our lives - we encourage and celebrate life outside of work.

This position requires the following certifications or combinations:

  • Technical experience specific to spatial data management and GIS software or services development
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Geomatics or other technical domain, with specific academic training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • An advanced degree (Masters / Ph.D.) or multiple discipline degrees are highly desirable, particularly in math, science, and engineering.
  • Certifications in cloud infrastructure and/or Agile / Lean Six Sigma are highly desirable

Required skills and abilities:

  • API Integration or Application Integration
  • API design and specification
  • Integration technologies (Mulesoft, Talend, SnapLogic) - FME (Safe Software) is considered a plus as it is the platform we implement and build our products upon
  • Esri or Hexagon GIS implementation or development experience
  • Familiarity with current GIS technologies and formats including Esri, GeoJSON, PostGIS, vector tiles, etc.
  • Software development processes (Agile, SDLC, source control) and languages (Python, Java, C#, NodeJS)
  • Strong knowledge of web service technologies and data formats (JSON, XML)
  • ETL development; Safe FME platform experience and/or certification is preferred.
  • Salesforce.com development (Lightning, APEX), and certification as a Salesforce Developer or Architect is a plus
  • Database technologies (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Cloud infrastructure and services design and management (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Compute), ideally with a certification as a consultant or architect on one of these services
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle and DevOps required
  • Ability to quickly understand technical concepts and explain them to customer and professional services audiences (mostly technical)
  • Experience in a consulting role working on projects with fixed scope, timelines and budgets
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and cross-functional collaboration
  • Experienced in receiving constructive feedback
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment
  • You share our values and work in accordance with those values.

Total Compensation:

  • Base Salary: dependent on your experience, ranges from $80,000 - $125,000
  • Short-Term Value Sharing: our employee profit-sharing plan redistributes 20% of company profits to employees, pro-rated to your salary

  • Services: support from our virtual assistant service (includes personal services to book dinner reservations, for example, to make your life easier)
  • Meaningful and Challenging Work: Integration is a key component of any Digital Transformation program. The work that we do helps businesses and communities grow by digitizing work across departments and automating administrative tasks that take up people’s time. Designing and delivering no-code integration solutions allows our customers to unleash the creativity of their staff to solve the real problems in their communities.
  • Informal Learning Opportunities: Mentoring from our CEO, and Monthly Education Sessions on topics of human performance, leadership, high-performing organizations, and customer service from luminaries such as Richard Branson (CEO Virgin Group), Jochen Zeitz (CEO Harley-Davidson), Simon Sinek (Author), Bozoma Saint-John (CMO Netflix, Uber, Apple Music)
