Start Date: May 2027 | Montreal (On-site)

CWP Energy is an energy trading company headquartered in Montreal. Since 2012, we have developed deep expertise in renewable energy and physical power trading. What sets us apart is our entrepreneurial mindset — we encourage initiative, experimentation, and calculated risk-taking. We operate in a niche, complex, and highly technical market.

This role is designed as a true entry point into power trading, offering strong exposure to market fundamentals, daily trading operations, and analytical projects. The selected candidate will progressively build the knowledge and experience required to transition into a Junior Power Trader role.

Phase 1 – Analyst (March to September 2027) *Start date may vary based on candidate availability.*
For 5–6 months, you will develop a strong understanding of market fundamentals while directly supporting the trading desk.

You will learn to:
  • Analyze supply and demand dynamics
  • Understand congestion drivers and transmission constraints
  • Monitor specific transmission lines and key market indicators
  • Identify and interpret market anomalies
  • Develop analytical tools
  • Structure and document strategic information

You will work alongside traders and gain daily exposure to real-time decision-making.

Phase 2 – Junior Power Trader (October 2027)
Once you have mastered the fundamentals, you will officially join our junior trading program.

You will be expected to:

  • Analyze real-time data to identify profitable trading strategies
  • Execute trading strategies in U.S. deregulated power markets
  • Contribute to P&L generation alongside experienced traders
  • Develop quantitative tools to support trading decisions
  • Apply risk management and compliance frameworks
  • Participate in capital allocation and portfolio risk analysis

This Role Is for You If:

  • You want to develop a niche expertise in Power Trading
  • You hold a Master’s degree or strong academic background in finance, actuarial science, engineering, or a related field
  • You have a strong analytical and entrepreneurial mindset
  • You thrive in competitive, high-performance environments
  • You are proficient in SQL, and Python
  • You are available to work full-time from our Montreal office
  • You are bilingual (french & english)
