Our Finance team plays a critical role in supporting our rapid growth and ensuring operational excellence. We value technical expertise, collaborative problem-solving, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our financial infrastructure while working at the intersection of finance and transformative technology. As we scale our business and navigate an evolving financial landscape, you'll play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and serving as a key partner on accounting implications of major business decisions.

  • Own lease accounting, including accounting assessment under ASC 842, recording and reconciliation of lease-related account transactions, financial reporting, and disclosures

  • Own equity accounting such as stock-based compensation under ASC 718 and IFRS, as well as all other equity-related balance sheet accounts

  • Oversee foreign currency accounting, including functional currency assessment, transaction exposure, and translation adjustments

  • Assist with recording purchase accounting, including purchase price adjustments, acquisition-related expenses, fair value allocations, and related reconciliations

  • Direct general ledger operations, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation

  • Implement and maintain robust accounting policies, procedures, systems, and internal controls

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial accuracy and support business growth

  • Leverage technology solutions to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Have 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with prior leadership in fast-paced environments

  • Possess strong technical accounting skills and deep understanding of GAAP principles, including lease accounting, equity accounting, business combination, and foreign currency

  • Have direct experience owning month-end close processes using close management tools such as Numeric

  • Demonstrate expertise in purchase accounting, including acquisitions, purchase price adjustments, and related reconciliations

  • Experience with leveraging AI tools to build and improve workflows to achieve operational efficiency and accuracy

  • Demonstrate excellence in problem-solving and process improvement methodologies

  • Show proficiency with financial systems (Netsuite preferred, but not required)

  • Exhibit strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments

  • Thrive in high-growth, dynamic environments with evolving priorities

  • Have experience building scalable accounting processes in technology companies

Full-Time Employees at Cohere enjoy these Perks:

  • 6 weeks of paid vacation (30 working days!)

  • Budget for traveling to other offices if you are remote, plus an annual company offsite.

How and Where We Work:

  • Cohere is remote-friendly, but we also have offices in Toronto, London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul with more opening soon.

  • For those in the office: a daily lunch program, plenty of snacks, and regular community and social events.
