SUMMARY

The Master Scheduler oversees master scheduling, capacity planning, and work center scheduling through delivery to the final customer. This role aligns customer demand with production capacity, inventory, and material availability to support timely delivery and efficient resource use in a fast-paced, compliance-driven aerospace manufacturing environment.

Working with Production, Program Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Shipping and Receiving, the Master Scheduler develops executable schedules, monitors attainment, resolves constraints, and coordinates recovery actions. The role is accountable for a 100% on-time delivery (OTD) target for its assigned customer and parts portfolio and uses ERP/MRP systems to improve planning and production flow.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Master Scheduling & Delivery

  • Own the 100% on-time delivery (OTD) target for the assigned customer and parts portfolio.
  • Develop and manage production schedules based on customer demand, internal capacity, inventory levels, and material availability.
  • Prepare and publish weekly schedules for production teams and verify completion for each assigned customer.
  • Update scheduling boards daily for every machine and work center, including Inspection and Shipping, to maintain continuous flow and resolve scheduling conflicts with support from other departments.

Capacity Planning & Resource Allocation

  • Manage work orders, capacity loading, and resource allocation to minimize delays.
  • Align shop schedules with the hours required to meet customer delivery commitments, coordinating overtime, flexibility, and other initiatives with relevant departments.
  • Identify bottlenecks and production risks and implement corrective actions with cross-functional teams to mitigate disruptions.
  • Analyze workflow, estimate completion dates, and prepare shipment forecasts.

Production Flow & Customer Coordination

  • Coordinate outside processing with Supply Chain and Shipping according to customer demand and priority.
  • Work with Engineering and Quality to resolve internal nonconformance reports (NCRs), rework requirements, and customer disposition issues promptly.
  • Coordinate customer delivery schedules and lead times with Program Management.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Shipping, and Receiving to maintain seamless production flow.

Schedule Performance & Systems

  • Prepare daily schedule attainment metrics and share results with leadership and production teams to support customer requirements and company objectives.
  • Use ERP/MRP systems to optimize production planning processes and maintain alignment between schedules, capacity, and material availability.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Improvement

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to align production goals with overall business strategy.
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Compliance

  • Ensure scheduling and planning activities comply with AS9100, FAA regulations, and other applicable aerospace manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE

  • Master scheduling, capacity planning, work center scheduling, and production planning methods and procedures.
  • ERP/MRP systems, work order management, capacity loading, inventory, and material availability.
  • Project management system fundamentals, workflow analysis, completion-date estimates, and shipment forecasting.
  • Schedule attainment, on-time delivery of metrics, bottleneck identification, and corrective action planning.
  • AS9100, FAA regulations, and other aerospace manufacturing standards applicable to planning and production flow.

COMPETENCIES

  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicates effectively with all organizational levels and coordinates priorities across departments.
  • Negotiation & Conflict Management: Resolves scheduling conflicts and negotiates practical solutions that support delivery commitments.
  • Problem Solving: Uses sound reasoning to identify constraints, assess options, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Accuracy & Attention to Detail: Maintains thorough, accurate schedules and planning information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accountability & Results: Works independently, remains goal-oriented, and meets assignment schedules while delivering quality work under pressure.
  • Prioritization & Teamwork: Manages multiple tasks and competing priorities while contributing effectively to team objectives.

  • Capacity, materials, inventory, and outside processing are coordinated to support customer delivery schedules.
  • Bottlenecks, nonconformances, rework, and other delivery risks are addressed promptly through cross-functional corrective actions.
  • Daily schedule attainment metrics and shipment forecasts give leadership and production teams clear visibility into delivery performance and risks.
  • ERP/MRP-supported planning processes improve production flow while supporting applicable aerospace compliance requirements.
