Job description

Mint Health + Drugs is a growing healthcare organization with a simple but important purpose: to help people access the care, service, and support they need in the communities we serve.

We are pharmacist-led, people-focused, and committed to creating a workplace where accountability, teamwork, and service excellence matter. Our teams work hard, support one another, and take pride in delivering care that is professional, compassionate, and practical.

At Mint, every role contributes to the experience we create for our patients, customers, partners, and employees. We are looking for people who bring initiative, reliability, sound judgment, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for ( 3 ) Pharmacy Students that have completed the second year of the program and Registered with ACP to join our Pharmacy Student - Clinical Centre of Excellence.

This Is Not a Traditional Pharmacy Student Job

Mint Health + Drugs is launching the Pharmacy Academic Centre of Excellence — the PACE Pilot Program — and we are searching for three exceptional pharmacy students who want to go far beyond the standard summer experience.

This is a fully immersive clinical preparation role. There is no dispensary work. Selected students will dedicate 100% of their working time to developing the knowledge, judgment, precision and confidence needed to support high-quality clinical pharmacy services.

Our goal is bigger than filling three ( 3 ) summer positions. We want to identify outstanding students early, invest in them throughout their academic careers and create a pathway for them to join Mint as fully licensed pharmacists after graduation.

Learn From One of Alberta’s Best

PACE students will be supervised and mentored by our Manager of Operations, who was recognized as Pharmacist of the Year by the Alberta College of Pharmacists.

This is a rare opportunity to learn directly from an accomplished pharmacy leader with deep expertise in clinical practice, pharmacy operations and patient care. You will receive meaningful feedback, be challenged to think critically and gain exposure to the standards of excellence required to become an exceptional clinical pharmacist.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Prepare and organize materials that support clinical pharmacy services and patient care activities.
  • Review patient information and clinical documentation under appropriate pharmacist supervision.
  • Support the preparation of clinical assessments, care plans, recommendations and follow-up activities.
  • Identify missing information, inconsistencies and opportunities to strengthen clinical files.
  • Develop a strong understanding of clinical workflows, documentation standards, quality expectations and professional accountability.
  • Learn how clinical pharmacy programs are designed, delivered, measured and continuously improved.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and members of Mint’s corporate clinical and operations teams.
  • Contribute ideas that improve accuracy, efficiency, consistency and the patient experience.
  • Help build and refine a new Centre of Excellence from the ground up.

As your knowledge and demonstrated capabilities grow, so will the complexity and impact of your work.

Who We Are Looking For

We are not looking for students who simply want a summer job. We are looking for future clinical pharmacy leaders. Students with the curiosity, discipline and drive to become true subject matter experts.

  • You have successfully completed at least the second year of an accredited pharmacy program.
  • You are currently registered and in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
  • You have a strong academic foundation and a genuine interest in clinical pharmacy.
  • You are exceptionally organized, accurate and attentive to detail.
  • You enjoy reviewing complex information, spotting gaps and solving problems.
  • You ask thoughtful questions and want to understand the “why” behind the work.
  • You take ownership, follow through and hold yourself to a high standard.
  • You welcome feedback and apply it quickly.
  • You communicate professionally and contribute positively to a collaborative team.
  • You understand the importance of discretion and strict patient confidentiality.
  • You are legally entitled to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.

Previous dispensary experience is welcome but not required. Your mindset, potential, work ethic and commitment to learning will matter most.

Why PACE?

  • 100% clinical focus — no dispensing shifts and no split priorities.
  • Direct mentorship from an award-winning pharmacy leader.
  • Exposure to advanced clinical preparation earlier in your academic career.
  • Flexible scheduling around operational needs and student availability.
  • Opportunities to return during reading weeks, holidays and other academic breaks and throughout the school year.
  • The chance to become part of Mint’s long-term pharmacy talent pipeline.
  • A meaningful head start toward becoming a confident, highly capable clinical pharmacist.

The Commitment

This pilot program requires a full-time commitment during the summer, but for the exceptional student we will consider part-time. Students may also choose to work during reading weeks, school holidays and other academic breaks throughout the year.

The work will be completed in person at Mint Health + Drugs office on the south side of Edmonton. Scheduling is flexible, with work available anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., seven days per week, based on operational requirements and student availability. Your schedule, your choice of hours.

Ready to Set the PACE?

If you are one of the strongest students in your program, are serious about developing advanced clinical capabilities and want an experience that will distinguish you from your peers, we want to hear from you.

Please submit your résumé and be prepared to answer the following questions: a brief introduction addressing:

  • Why clinical pharmacy interests you.
  • What makes you an exceptional candidate for the PACE Pilot Program.
  • What you hope to learn, contribute and accomplish through this experience.

THREE STUDENTS WILL BE SELECTED FOR THE INAUGURAL PACE COHORT.

Build your expertise. Accelerate your future. Set the PACE.

Join a growing team where your work matters, your contributions are valued, and great patient care is at the heart of everything we do.

Apply today — we’d love to hear from you.

Please apply directly through the link provided in this posting. We appreciate the interest of all applicants; however, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Mint Health + Drugs is committed to providing a respectful, inclusive, and accessible recruitment process. Applicants who require accommodation during any stage of the recruitment process are encouraged to contact Human Resources so appropriate arrangements can be made.
