Department: Controllership

Reports to: Global Brand Controller

Location: North Vancouver, BC, or Hybrid

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

The Regional Controller is a finance leader responsible for the integrity, accuracy and compliance of Arc’teryx financial results within their region. Operating as the Global Brand Controllers primary regional finance partner, the Regional Controller owns the regional P&L and Balance Sheet, drives the end-to-end regional close and ensures consistent application of IFRS and corporate accounting policies across all regional entities. The Regional Controller serves as the principal owner of significant regional estimates, provisions and accruals, using independent judgement on complex matters while partnering closely with Brand FP&A, GBS and Global/Regional partners.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid work (or remote Canada with travels to North Vancouver, BC). Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet Your Future Team:

The Controllership team is the financial backbone of Arc'teryx, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of our financial results across all regions and entities globally. We partner closely with FP&A, GBS, and regional business leaders to deliver trusted financial reporting, drive governance excellence, and support the decisions that shape the brand's future. Our team moves with both rigor and agility — holding the standard on controls while enabling the business to grow.

If you were in the Regional Controller role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing: Financial Integrity & Reporting

  • Owning the regional P&L and Balance Sheet, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and quality of all financial data submitted to the Global Brand Controller.
  • Partnering with regional FP&A leader to complete detailed variance analysis and determine causes for variances
  • Executing regional financial close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries; ensuring key judgmental reserves are reviewed and approved by the Global Brand Controller.
  • Performing and reviewing account reconciliations for all regional entities; escalating key reconciliations to the Global Brand Controller for approval.
  • Reviewing regional P&L and Balance Sheet results; identifying, investigating, and escalating material variances on a timely basis.
  • Delivering regional close packages to the Global Brand Controller in accordance with the global close calendar.
  • Submitting accurate regional financial data into the consolidation system (OneStream) and ensuring alignment with corporate consolidation requirements.

Estimates, Provisions & Accruals

  • Owning the preparation, documentation, and approval of all significant regional estimates, provisions, and accruals, including but not limited to: inventory reserves, warranty provisions, sales return accruals, employee-related accruals, and other judgmental balance sheet positions
  • Applying a rigorous, well-documented methodology to all significant estimates; ensuring assumptions are supportable, consistently applied, and aligned with IFRS requirements.
  • Proactively identifying changes in business conditions that may require adjustments to existing provisions or accruals; communicating material changes to the Global Brand Controller.
  • Partnering with GBS to review GBS-prepared entries related to provisions and accruals, providing sign-off and ensuring regional estimates reflect the best available information.

Governance, Controls & Compliance

  • Executing and self-assessing SOX controls across the region; ensuring controls are operating effectively and deficiencies are identified and reported promptly
  • Leading remediation of control deficiencies within the region, working collaboratively with Global Brand Controller and GBS to drive issues to closure.
  • Implementing global accounting policies locally; raising technical queries to the Global Brand Controller and Group Accounting as required.
  • Ensuring regional entities maintain compliance with IFRS and all applicable corporate accounting policies.

Audit Management

  • Serving as the primary regional contact for external and internal audit engagements; preparing and delivering all required PBC (Prepared By Client) deliverables on schedule.
  • Supporting the Global Brand Controller in coordinating the brand-level external audit; providing timely responses to audit queries and ensuring completeness of audit evidence.
  • Coordinating internal audit engagements at the regional level; authoring management responses to internal audit findings.

Business Partnership & Commercial Guidance

  • Providing proactive accounting guidance on the regional impact of commercial decisions, new product launches, distribution agreements, and local business initiatives.
  • Partnering with regional FP&A to provide actuals commentary for forecast review cycles and support budget validation.
  • Collaborating with FP&A on actuals vs. forecast variance analysis, ensuring accounting and finance perspectives are integrated.
  • Supporting the Global Brand Controller in serving as the accounting thought partner to brand GMs and regional business leaders.

Finance Transformation & Continuous Improvement

  • Executing regional workstreams within global finance transformation initiatives, including BlackLine, S/4HANA, and close automation programmes.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline and improve regional close processes, reconciliation quality, and controls effectiveness.
  • Acting as a regional champion for adoption of new tools, systems, and standardised processes.

Are you our next Regional Controller?

  • You hold a CPA (or equivalent) designation, with 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including meaningful time in a leadership role
  • You take full ownership and accountability for regional outcomes, from close quality to control effectiveness, without waiting for direction.
  • You have a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing finance teams across multiple entities or geographies, with the ability to build culture, drive accountability, and grow talent
  • You bring deep technical expertise in IFRS, financial close processes, and internal controls (SOX), and you are confident exercising independent judgment on complex, multi-entity accounting matters
  • You have experience owning regional or multi-entity P&Ls and Balance Sheets, with a strong command of estimates, provisions, and accruals in a large-scale, multinational environment
  • You connect data, business context, and long-term goals to weigh trade-offs and commit to well-reasoned, timely decisions on complex accounting matters,
  • You are a credible and influential communicator who can translate complex financial and accounting topics for senior business leaders, including GMs and executive stakeholders
  • You have a demonstrated ability to lead finance transformation, systems implementation workstreams (e.g. ERP, consolidation tools, close automation), and utilize digital and AI tools to improve processes, driving adoption and sustainable change
  • You bring strong business partnership instincts — you don't just report the numbers, you help the business understand and act on them
  • You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving structures, and you bring both rigour and adaptability to everything you do
  • You are an exceptional collaborator who builds trust across functions — Finance, Legal, Tax, and regional business teams — and you know how to get things done through influence as much as authority

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is CAD$149,000 ~ CAD$195,000
