You will administer medications safely via IV, perform wound care and prevent further physical destabilization of client health. You will also have the opportunity to use motivational interviewing skills to continuously support clients to develop goals and practice strategies that will support their early recovery. You will contribute to unit safety using a harm reduction, trauma-informed and client centred approach. You will provide leadership on the floor as Charge Nurse after 3:30pm and on weekends.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess or are currently pursuing a BScN and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. You will have at least two years (or 3900 hours) of clinical experience within the mental health and addictions field, with a particular focus on: the identification and treatment of substance intoxication, overdose and withdrawal. This includes the use of pharmacotherapy in the treatment of substance use; and sound knowledge of crisis intervention, concurrent mental health and addiction issues, trauma-informed care, harm reduction and recovery-oriented care. The successful candidate will possess proficiency and leadership in problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, negotiation, communication, delegation, critical thinking, team building and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated expertise in maintaining a culture of safety for staff, clients/patient, families and visitors according to CAMH and regulatory standards is critical. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
Please Note: This part-time, temporary position is a 0.5 commitment, which may be subject to change as per the Collective Agreement. Additional hours may be available based on operational needs. This position is part of the ONA Bargaining Unit.
