  2. Crisis & Critical Care Unit 4 (CCC 4)
CCC 4 is an acute inpatient service with a model of care that emphasizes the treatment of concurrent mental health and substance-use disorders, patient engagement and therapeutic programming. 3. Crisis & Critical Care Unit 5 (CCC 5)
CCC 5 provides crisis and critical care services within the Child, Youth and Emerging Adult Program. The unit supports individuals experiencing a range of acute mental health concerns and provides opportunities to develop expertise in areas including early intervention for psychosis, emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, addictions and trauma-informed care. RPNs work closely with the multidisciplinary team using a collaborative nursing model to assess, plan and evaluate client care.

All applicants who are offered and accept employment must complete a Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check. Employment will be conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check.

  4. Crisis & Critical Care Unit 6 (CCC 6)
CCC 6 is a 25-bed acute inpatient service consisting of 20 general beds and a 5-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The unit supports adults aged 18+ experiencing acute mental health and/or addiction concerns, including individuals requiring a higher level of observation and intervention. RPNs have opportunities to develop skills in acute psychiatric care, behavioural assessment, crisis management, therapeutic programming, reflective practice, student mentorship and research.

  5. Crisis & Critical Care Unit 7 (CCC 7)

The unit focuses on holistic, client-centred psychiatric nursing care and provides opportunities to participate in therapeutic groups, reflective practice, program development, student mentorship and research while strengthening clinical expertise in acute mental health and addictions care.

Across these services, RPNs work as members of interprofessional teams and provide psychiatric and general nursing care to individuals experiencing a variety of mental health and addiction concerns. Conduct and document mental status and physical health assessments, monitor client responses to medications and other clinical interventions, and communicate changes in client status.

Develop therapeutic relationships and provide trauma-informed, recovery-oriented and culturally responsive care to clients experiencing a range of mental health and substance-related concerns.

Apply knowledge of psychiatric nursing, addictions, concurrent disorders, crisis intervention and emergency psychiatry, and respond effectively to challenging or rapidly changing clinical situations.

Use strong behavioural observation, assessment and clinical decision-making skills to support the prevention and management of responsive behaviours and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Support unit and group activities that promote client engagement, therapeutic relationships and recovery.

Contribute to program development, quality improvement and research initiatives.
