What you'll do

  • Lead end-to-end Disaster Recovery exercise design, planning, coordination, and execution, defining recovery scenarios, scope, dependencies, schedules, entry and exit criteria, and stakeholder responsibilities.
  • Create, maintain, and validate actionable DR plans and step-by-step recovery runbooks with application and infrastructure owners, documenting prerequisites, recovery sequencing, dependencies, roles, escalation paths, validation checks, and failback procedures aligned with established recovery objectives.
  • Direct DR test execution and validate results against recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs); capture evidence, lead post-exercise reviews, update runbooks, and track corrective actions through resolution and retesting, as required.
  • Partner with business units, application owners, and IT teams to assess recovery coverage, confirm critical dependencies and recovery priorities, resolve planning gaps, and maintain exercise readiness as applications and infrastructure change.
  • Develop and improve DR planning and testing methodologies, runbook templates, documentation standards, and repeatable practices; provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to strengthen recovery consistency across teams.
  • Identify, design, and implement automation with technology teams for repeatable recovery steps, readiness checks, evidence collection, and status reporting; validate automated workflows and maintain appropriate approvals, exception handling, and manual fallback procedures.
  • Build and maintain DR dashboards and performance measures covering plan and runbook currency, exercise coverage, RTO/RPO achievement, recovery trends, and overdue remediation; establish consistent metric definitions, validate source data, and automate data refreshes where practical.
  • Deliver executive-ready DR reporting that communicates exercise outcomes, recovery gaps, risks, remediation progress, and prioritized recommendations, translating technical findings into clear decisions and follow-up actions.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • ITIL certification (at least Intermediate level)
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or similar DR-specific certification
  • Extensive hands-on experience developing DR plans and executable recovery runbooks and leading large-scale, cross-functional DR exercises, including scenario design, execution coordination, evidence collection, results analysis, and remediation follow-up.
  • Strong understanding of DR technologies and methodologies, recovery strategies, application and infrastructure dependencies, and the validation of RTOs and RPOs.
  • Hands-on experience using scripting, workflow automation, or recovery orchestration tools to reduce manual effort and improve repeatability, with an understanding of testing, change control, exception handling, and operational safeguards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop management reports and interactive dashboards using business intelligence and data analysis tools, define meaningful DR measures, validate data quality, and present actionable insights to technical and executive audiences.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority, navigate complex recovery issues, and communicate technical risks and recommendations clearly to senior management.
