Job description

S'more about the team:

The Pets Table is on a mission to reimagine pet food, one bowl at a time. We believe there’s a better way to feed our good boys and girls. A way that gives every pet - the long-haired, the short-legged, and the spotted alike - a seat at the table, with healthy recipes developed with vets and made from wholesome ingredients that humans trust.

We’re a new brand within the HelloFresh Group which launched in 2023 in the US. We’re incubated within the HelloFresh Group meaning we have the space to operate as a start up whilst also having the many benefits of being part of a larger organisation. We’re looking to scale rapidly, to disrupt the pet food industry and to help pawrents improve their furry family members’ wellbeing.

The Senior Manager, Special Operations will have the opportunity to shape the growth and strategy of operation functions at The Pets Table. This person will be responsible for managing and executing special projects related to operations workstreams to set us up for success as we grow. You will have the opportunity to deep dive into different functional areas, designing and executing projects. Areas of focus may include Operational Excellence, Fulfillment, Procurement, Forecasting, Logistics, Operations Tech Enablement and KPI Tracking. The Senior Manager, Special Operations is highly agile, has a passion for diagnosing and bringing structure to complex business challenges (and is not afraid of getting their hands dirty!), and adept at change and stakeholder management.

Lettuce share what this role will be responsible for:

  • Partner directly with COO to identify, scope and execute key operations optimization projects to improve cost, speed and quality of our supply chain and fulfillment functions
  • Develop, lead and execute complex cross-functional project plans with clearly defined milestones, timelines, communication plans and task owners. This includes active stakeholder management and maintaining open lines of communication with project sponsors
  • Supports operations leaders to achieve company and function level KPIs
  • Manages and executes on ongoing SCM tech roadmap to streamline daily operations
  • Owns operational excellence program to keep error rates low across fulfillment errors and on time performance
  • Optimize and monitor fulfillment and shipping costs to meet margin goals
  • Lead continuous improvement projects. This may involve designing and prototyping systems and tools
  • Be empowered and encouraged to propose new ideas to improve our operations
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Sound a-peeling? Here's what we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related Business or operations fields or equivalent education/experience
  • At least 5 years of related work experience, ideally with operations and/or data analytics experience
  • Experience working in operational areas (ideally manufacturing, retail or similar). Management or operations consulting experience ideal
  • Excellent project management skills, including stakeholder management to get projects completed quickly and of high quality
  • Strong data and analytical skills with the ability to analyze large data sets skillfully by building complex models and identify/resolve problems quickly using sound and professional judgment
  • Experience working on or managing complex projects in a hands-on analytical environment
  • Proven experience establishing, implementing, and executing operational process
  • Excellent presentation, communication (oral & written), and relationship building skills, across all levels of management and with technical and non-technical people
  • Ability to manage resources, budgets, vendors, and be able to lead and guide projects through completion
  • You are:
    • Bold: you’re adventurous, outgoing and optimistic; you’re confident making decisions and taking calculated risk
    • Entrepreneurial Spirit: you have the vision, passion, and imagination; you are not afraid to ask, ‘what if’ and constantly challenge the status quo
    • Versatile: you roll with the punches and don’t get overwhelmed easily; you enjoy grinding away at issues and have a knack for delivering results in hyper-growth, constantly changing environments
    • Analytical: data is your friend; you're able to translate numbers into action and pave the way for efficiency
    • Team-oriented: you have a track record of working in cross-functional teams and cultivating collaborative partnerships at all levels and departments of an organization
    • Strategic: you recognize and resolve situations that are ambiguous or challenging and use logic to identify alternatives, evaluate, and present approaches to solving complex problems while thinking in terms of contingency plans
    • Customer-focused: slightly obsessive-compulsive when it comes to customer experience and strive to deliver a product that is second to none
    • Agile —Thrive on shifting priorities and new challenges, willing to move forward without a roadmap, building and driving the needed structure
    • A critical thinker — Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
    • Enterprising — Seek to take up and start new projects. Able to achieve work with the risk of failure
    • Creative — Challenge conventional methods and open to new ideas
    • Driven by results — Independently push multiple projects to completion with a sense of urgency. Focus on activities that have tangible business outcomes and require little oversight to move projects forward
    • A clear communicator — With solid written and oral communications skills. Able to clearly coordinate and provide information to co-workers
    • Ability to influence key stakeholders, work cross-functionally and autonomously
    • Goal-oriented with the ability to break complex, unstructured problems down into components of impact and derive quantifiable action items
    • Capable of jumping into new challenges, quickly assessing what needs to be done, building a plan and executing flawlessly.
    • Self-motivated, driven and able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
