Job description

Promise Robotics is pioneering Physical AI for homebuilding — a rapidly growing, venture-backed company bringing together AI, robotics, and manufacturing to help the homebuilding industry meet the growing demand for housing. Our robotic systems, built and operated inside AI-powered factories, give the industry the production capacity, consistency, and speed to build more high-quality homes than traditional methods allow. Our team spans AI researchers and roboticists to factory operators, technicians, and production teams — all building the future of homebuilding together.

We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to developing cutting-edge solutions for our core robotic manufacturing technologies. This role can be remote within Canada with travel to our Calgary facility.

You might be a good fit if you:

Have a passion for leading industry-changing solutions with significant social, economic, and environmental impact

Desire to play a founding role and reap the benefits as part of a growth-stage startup with significant upside

Enjoy building not only the technology but also high-performing teams and companies

Are committed to continuous learning at the intersection of several industries

What you'll do:

Lead the design of cutting-edge, industry-first automation systems using a first-principles approach

Gather design constraints and produce complex 3D models based on a knowledge of pneumatics, motion (motor control & drives), materials, and manufacturing processes

Prepare manufacturing drawings, specifications, and release bills of materials; own all aspects of the product design phase

Design systems for compliance to applicable standards (i.e., CSA, ISO, ANSI, OSHA, customer specific)

Establish robust supply chains and manage low-cost manufacturing partnerships

Confer with colleagues, suppliers, contractors, customers, and relevant authorities to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and create appropriate technical documentation, including machine manuals

Set goals, develop, and maintain equipment build schedules for project launches

Research and evaluate mechanical products for application feasibility by applying knowledge of engineering principles for our continual product development

Support equipment installations, operation, maintenance, and repairs to ensure that machinery is installed and functioning according to intended specifications

Lead and participate in mechanical design reviews

Other duties as assigned

What you'll need to succeed:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering; P.Eng. designation or progress toward license preferred.

5+ years of robotic systems integration experience in a custom automation environment

Practical hands-on mechanical aptitude and a sincere passion for engineering, robotics, and automation

Extensive experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD

A portfolio of automation projects in which you made significant contributions

A willingness to participate in all technical areas of the business as needed to solve complex problems and achieve business impact

The capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain timing deadlines

Experience in mentoring junior engineers and designers

Ability to travel to our Calgary factory

Ability to travel internationally

A relentless pursuit of learning and growing in the rapidly changing world of industrial automation

Benefits:

Competitive salary: we believe in data-driven, equitable compensation decisions. We recently completed a compensation review and implemented salary bands that enable us to pay mid to above-average Canadian salaries across various industries.

Stock options: everyone has a stake in our company.

Holistic benefits: we have a comprehensive benefits package that includes paramedical, dental, vision, and drug coverage for you and your dependents, as well as a health care spending account. These benefits start right from Day 1.

Flexible personal days and vacation policies: we care deeply about the well-being of our team.

Open, collaborative, and supportive culture: you will be part of an incredibly high-performing and collaborative team changing the future of an industry!

Relocation assistance package (if required)
