Our innovative services, including Credit Builder and rent reporting, help consumers build credit so they can unlock access to a wider range of financial products at more competitive rates. Additionally, we offer personalized financial product recommendations from Canada’s most trusted providers based on each member’s credit profile and financial goals.

Our team is diverse, inclusive, and driven by a shared passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of Canadians. We pride ourselves on fostering a culture of collaboration, humility, and innovation. If you’re looking to join a company that’s transforming the financial landscape and empowering Canadians to achieve their financial aspirations, we invite you to explore career opportunities at Borrowell. Together, we can help Canadians feel confident about money.

About the role

Borrowell is looking for a Sr. Technical GEO/SEO Specialist to help fulfill Borrowell’s mission of making people feel confident about money. You’ll own how Canadians discover us through search engines and AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.

You’ll lead our organic and AI visibility strategy end to end, from working with Engineering to building content that humans and engines trust and cite, including leveraging real member stories and Borrowell’s proprietary data insights.

This role is for a curious, data-driven, technically proficient person who understands content and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI and search visibility strategy: Own Borrowell’s SEO and GEO strategy and roadmap. Set priorities and track rankings, AI citations, and share of voice across search and answer engines.
  • Technical SEO & GEO: Ensure our website is following best practices, including crawlability, indexation, JavaScript rendering, Core Web Vitals, and schema/markup across English and French pages.
  • Content architecture: Design topic clusters, internal linking, and scalable page templates (e.g., product and comparison pages) structured so answer engines can extract and cite them.
  • First-party content: Work cross-functionally to surface member stories and proprietary data insights. Turn them into articles, reports, and newsworthy stories that get cited.
  • Industry Trends: Stay on top of developments in search, AI answer engines, social platforms and content marketing, and bring new ideas and best practices to the team

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years in a technical SEO/GEO/content role, with a track record of scaling content to meet business objectives and KPIs (e.g., traffic, signups, revenue)
  • Storytelling: Experience with turning complex topics and data into clear, compelling stories across formats, ideally related to YMYL themes
  • A clear point of view on GEO/AEO: how answer engines choose sources, and how you measure and improve citations
  • Data and technical fluency: Google Search Console, GA4, Google Tag Manager, Semrush/Ahrefs, an LLM visibility tool (e.g., Profound), a BI tool like Looker, JavaScript rendering, crawl tools, schema, and ability to use dev tools to diagnose issues yourself

Nice to haves

  • Experience at a fintech, financial services company, startup, or scaleup
  • Experience with a headless CMS (e.g., Contentful), modern JS frameworks, bilingual (EN/FR) sites

Benefits

  • The Opportunity - join and have a major impact at a growing company that is helping Canadians feel confident about money.
  • Comprehensive Health Benefits - medical, dental, vision, and paramedical health benefits for you and your family, with extra yearly coverage for psychotherapists and massage therapists
  • Additional Health Benefits - virtual benefit offering that allows you to connect 24/7 with nurses, doctors and mental health professionals
  • Maternity & Parental Leave Top-up - available to new parents
  • WFH Reimbursement - we ship you gear like a laptop, mouse, keyboard, and you can reimburse additional items to make your workplace better for you
  • Employee Development Benefit - annual reimbursements on payments to help your learning
  • Givewell Benefit - 1 paid volunteer day a year to give back to the community
  • Flexibility - flexible working hours and a flexible vacation policy

We are remote-first across Canada with an office in Toronto. This role requires you to attend in-person meetings and team-building events. While this role is remote, we are currently only able to hire candidates physically located in Ontario, BC, or Alberta.

At Borrowell, one of our core values and firm beliefs is that diversity makes us better. If you’re unsure about your qualifications for this position we’d still encourage you to apply. We’re looking for candidates who have experience but know that not everyone’s had a chance to demonstrate what they can do. What’s most important is that you have a growth mindset and care about helping people with their finances - an area in their lives that causes a lot of stress.

Please note that due to the sensitive nature of the work we do, clearing a credit and criminal record check is a condition of employment.

By submitting your application, you consent to Borrowell's use and processing of your personal information in connection with your job application at Borrowell and its recruitment processes.

Borrowell encourages applications from candidates with differing abilities. Please let us know if you require accommodation at any stage in the selection process.

This posting represents a current and active vacancy within our organization.

The budgeted annual salary range for this role is $85,000 – $110,000 CAD. Starting pay is determined by the candidate's relevant experience and skills. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for Borrowell’s full benefits package.
