Technical Consultant II / Software Engineer II

Intermediate Level | SaaS Banking & Financial Technology

Opportunity

We are seeking an Intermediate Technical Consultant / Software Engineer to support the implementation, configuration, integration, and deployment of enterprise SaaS banking and financial technology solutions.

This is a hands-on technical delivery role for someone who can independently own moderately complex features, configurations, integrations, and implementation workstreams from requirements through testing and deployment.

You will work across software engineering, product configuration, APIs, integrations, SQL/data, testing, troubleshooting, and lower-environment deployments, while collaborating with functional consultants, QA, DevOps, engineering teams, architects, and client stakeholders.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical problem-solving with experience in enterprise SaaS implementations and preferably banking, financial services, fintech, payments, product/pricing, or billing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently deliver medium-complexity software features, product configurations, integrations, and implementation workstreams.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into technical designs, configuration approaches, data mappings, integration logic, test scenarios, and implementation tasks.
  • Configure and customize product, pricing, rates, fees, billing, eligibility, workflow, approval, offer, and integration rules.
  • Develop and enhance backend, frontend, API, integration, reporting, automation, and data-processing components as required.
  • Design and implement REST API integrations, data mappings, interface logic, file transformations, validation rules, and error handling.
  • Develop SQL queries, scripts, diagnostic utilities, reports, and automation tools to support implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze and resolve issues across application, configuration, API, integration, database/data, workflow, performance, and environment layers.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and document technical findings, impacts, corrective actions, and recommendations.
  • Apply reusable engineering and configuration patterns to deliver solutions that are scalable, maintainable, reliable, and supportable.
  • Participate in code/configuration reviews and follow established development, source-control, testing, documentation, security, and release-management standards.

Deployment & Environment Responsibilities

  • Deploy assigned products, modules, configurations, integrations, and technical components across lower environments.
  • Support deployments through Development, Integration, QA/Test, UAT, and applicable pre-production environments.
  • Validate configurations, dependencies, services, interfaces, integrations, and data following deployment.
  • Troubleshoot deployment, environment, configuration, dependency, and release issues.
  • Prepare and maintain deployment instructions, implementation notes, release documentation, configuration records, and validation procedures.
  • Support UAT, release readiness, production readiness, and post-deployment validation activities.

APIs, Integration & Data

  • Build and support integrations between enterprise applications and external systems.
  • Define and validate API contracts, interface specifications, mappings, transformations, and integration workflows.
  • Investigate data issues across source systems, SaaS platform configurations, transformation layers, APIs, integrations, and downstream applications.
  • Perform reconciliation and validation of product, pricing, fee, billing, transaction, and customer-level data.
  • Use SQL and other diagnostic tools to investigate data quality, processing, configuration, and integration issues.

Testing & Quality

  • Define and execute functional, integration, regression, negative, edge-case, and data-driven testing.
  • Validate APIs, integrations, configurations, pricing, billing, fees, workflows, business rules, and data outputs against acceptance criteria.
  • Perform code/configuration self-checks and impact analysis before handoff.
  • Support QA and UAT teams with technical clarification, defect investigation, and resolution.
  • Verify fixes and configuration changes to ensure they do not create unintended downstream impacts.

Banking / Financial Services

  • Apply banking or financial-services knowledge to technical solutions involving products, pricing, rates, fees, billing, offers, discounts, waivers, eligibility, approvals, customer relationships, and auditability.
  • Understand the difference between standard SaaS platform functionality, client-specific configuration, customization, and regulatory/audit requirements.
  • Support banking use cases involving pricing transparency, fee substantiation, rate plans, approval workflows, audit trails, and downstream billing or servicing processes.
  • Work with functional teams and clients to explain technical options, platform capabilities, constraints, dependencies, and trade-offs.

Client & Team Collaboration

  • Participate in requirements workshops, technical discussions, solution reviews, demonstrations, defect-triage sessions, and implementation checkpoints.
  • Communicate technical concepts, risks, issues, and solution alternatives clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Functional Consultants, Software Engineers, QA, DevOps, Product teams, Architects, and client stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers or consultants on configuration, development standards, debugging, testing, and implementation practices.
  • Contribute reusable scripts, templates, accelerators, troubleshooting guides, implementation checklists, and knowledge-base documentation.

Required Qualifications

Must Have

  • Approximately 4–7+ years of relevant professional experience in software engineering, technical consulting, SaaS implementation, systems integration, or enterprise application delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience independently delivering moderately complex software features, configurations, integrations, or technical implementation workstreams.
  • Hands-on development experience with one or more of the following or comparable technologies:
    • Java
    • C# / .NET
    • JavaScript / TypeScript
    • Python
    • SQL
    • REST APIs / Web Services
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, system integrations, data mappings, relational databases, SQL, and enterprise application troubleshooting.
  • Experience implementing or supporting enterprise SaaS platforms or configurable enterprise applications.
  • Experience deploying and validating applications, configurations, integrations, or technical components across Development, QA/Test, Integration, UAT, and other lower environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across application, configuration, API, integration, data/database, and environment layers.
  • Experience with source control, SDLC, testing, defect management, release management, and deployment processes.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause-analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently while recognizing when technical risks or issues require escalation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and clients.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum or similar iterative software delivery environments.

Banking / FinTech Experience

Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience within banking, financial services, fintech, payments, or financial technology environments.
  • Understanding of banking concepts involving products, pricing, rates, fees, billing, offers, discounts, waivers, approvals, customer relationships, and auditability.
  • Experience translating banking or financial-services requirements into technical configurations, integrations, or software solutions.

Candidates with significant enterprise SaaS implementation experience may also be considered if they demonstrate strong technical capabilities and the ability to quickly develop banking-domain knowledge.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with product and pricing platforms, billing systems, core banking platforms, or financial-services SaaS applications.
  • Cloud experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, deployment automation, monitoring, or observability.
  • Experience with messaging, event-driven architecture, batch processing, or file-based integrations.
  • Experience participating directly in enterprise client requirements workshops, technical discussions, UAT, solution demonstrations, and implementation activities.
  • Previous experience mentoring or technically guiding junior engineers or consultants.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidates will bring a combination of:

Software Engineering + SaaS Implementation + APIs/Integration + SQL/Data + Deployment + Banking/FinTech

They should be comfortable building, configuring, integrating, deploying, testing, and troubleshooting enterprise solutions rather than operating exclusively as a developer, business analyst, or support resource.

This is an Intermediate / Level II role requiring someone capable of owning assigned technical work independently while receiving periodic guidance from senior consultants, engineers, and architects.
