At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.
Join our team as a full-time Technical Operations Officer, working on-site primarily in Etobicoke, with coverage across Whitby and Oakville.
More Than a Job: A Mission
Take on a new challenge and apply your technical expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and proactive teammates.
You'll play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of train services by monitoring train performance and identifying potential mechanical issues before they affect on-time performance. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, including Control Supervisors, Outpost Technicians, and Train Operating Crews, to ensure smooth operations and timely communication, and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of monitoring locomotive, coach, DMU, and train service health using advanced health monitoring systems, but also implement recovery plans during service disruptions to minimize delays.
Your Role, Your Impact
Monitoring train performance using resources like Intellitrain, CDS, Witronix, and Metrolinx Network Operations Control Center
Identifying potential equipment issues in advance of dispatch and coordinating repairs
Providing troubleshooting instructions to crews during service disruptions
Collaborating with the Control Supervisor to ensure timely communication with GO Transit Operations
Maintaining detailed logs and reports on train recovery and incident prevention
Staying updated with crew operating instructions and notices
What You Bring
We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
Electrical and mechanical college diploma or certification
Completed apprenticeship (an asset)
Three years of railway experience
Proficiency in computer skills
Excellent understanding of locomotives and coach equipment
Strong communication skills across various mediums (face-to-face, phone, email, or radio)
Ability to provide clear repair instructions to Train Operating Crews, Outpost Technicians, and Maintenance staff
Alstom, A Great Place to Grow
Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
Work with new security standards for rail signalling
Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues
Contribute to innovative projects
Utilise our dynamic and inclusive working environment
Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning
Progress towards leadership or advanced technical roles
Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)
Here, progress isn't always easy but the impact is real. Because the scale is massive, the tasks are complex when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
