We’re in this together, tackling big challenges with bold ideas and genuine care. We look for curious minds and courageous collaborators who bring sun-drenched optimism and drive. Whether you're building smarter solutions, supporting customers, or creating a space where everyone belongs, you’ll do meaningful work with Workmates who’ve got your back. In return, we’ll give you the trust to take risks, the tools to grow, the skills to develop and the support of a company invested in you for the long haul. So, if you want to inspire a brighter work day for everyone, including yourself, you’ve found a match in Workday, and we hope to be a match for you too.

About the Team

Come join the UX team designing Workday's financial products! We're the folks designing the tools that finance professionals use daily. From planning budgets, to managing spending, and understanding financial health, it's a complex world, but our job is to make it intuitive and user-friendly through smart design. We're a supportive and collaborative group passionate about tackling these challenges and making a real difference in the world of enterprise finance. We value working together, sharing ideas, and helping each other grow.

About the Role

As a UX Design Intern on our team, you'll spend 6-months designing real experiences for our financial applications. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and fellow designers to create user flows, wireframes, and prototypes for features within our financial products. You won't be expected to know everything on day one. You'll be paired with a designer on the team who will help you get oriented, give regular feedback, and support your growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your UX skills, learn about the complexities of financial systems, and make a tangible impact by improving the tools that help businesses run smoothly. You'll be part of the design process from understanding the problem to delivering polished solutions, and you'll leave with real product work to show for it.

About You

You're currently studying UX or a related field and eager to learn and grow. What really matters to us is your attitude: you're naturally curious, love digging into problems, and genuinely enjoy collaborating with others. You see feedback as a gift, aren't afraid to ask questions, and thrive in a team setting where you can both contribute and learn from your peers. You have a good grasp of UX fundamentals, can create clear wireframes and user flows (experience with Figma is great!), you're curious about how AI tools are changing the way designers work, and you're excited by the challenge of designing for complex, impactful financial products.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience Design, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field, with an anticipated graduation date within December 2027 - June 2028
  • Able to commit to a full-time, 6-month internship from February 8 to August 20, 2027.
  • You will return to your studies after the internship ends.
  • Submission of an online portfolio showcasing UX design work (e.g., user flows, wireframes, prototypes). Class and personal projects are welcome.
  • Less than 12 months of internship/co-op work experience
  • Curiosity about AI tools and a desire to keep learning them, with some familiarity using AI tools for prototyping, such as Lovable, Cursor, or Claude Code.
  • Experience using Figma for creating wireframes and prototypes, through coursework, personal projects, or work.

Other Qualifications:

  • Preferred: In your application, please include a few sentences in your own words about your career goals and why this internship looks interesting to you.
  • A genuine desire to collaborate effectively within a team setting and a strong curiosity to understand diverse perspectives.
  • Experience working in a team, such as group class projects, hackathons, or a previous internship. Experience with product managers and engineers is a plus.
  • An interest in financial products or B2B (business-to-business) and enterprise applications. No prior experience in this space is needed.
  • Familiarity with user research practices and an interest in using data to inform design decisions.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to learning, an ability to adapt to new challenges, and a passion for developing your craft as a designer.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage your time effectively and prioritize tasks.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
