Job description

Who are we?

We are CEM, a global data and insights firm for institutional investors including pension funds, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, family offices and sovereign wealth funds.

Our blue-chip corporate and government clients represent US$16 trillion in assets under management and over 100 million members. We provide them with objective insights to maximize value for money in both investments and pension administration. This helps our clients better understand where they stand and how to improve their performance. By improving our clients' performance, we, in turn, improve the financial well-being of pensioners globally.

How do we provide unique and actionable insight? By coupling the most extensive global database in the pension arena with unrivalled industry knowledge. All of this comes from experience - we have been at this since 1992. We were founded in Canada and expanded to the US and UK more than a decade ago.

We work together in a small company ambiance where your contributions will be appreciated, and your progress will be directly related to your ability and effort. Working at CEM, you will stretch your creative and analytical abilities while participating in the growth of a headline-making business.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for an Analyst to join our Production Team, where you'll build your skills through an apprenticeship-based model.

As a client-facing member of a collaborative team, you'll work with clients around the world and share insights through both our proprietary analytics and our industry-leading conference. You'll partner with clients to understand their business and gather standardized performance metrics from them and their peers. Using your strong Excel, coding, analytical and writing skills, you'll turn this data into insights that help clients see how their performance compares to their peers in the industry.

You'll have the opportunity to keep learning and develop a deep understanding of our data and methodologies, so you can contribute to our clients' success. As you build your skills, you'll have the opportunity to grow and progress into a more senior role.

What will you do in this role?

  • Review and validate client data submissions to make sure they are accurate, complete, and comparable.
  • Follow up with clients to clarify questions and resolve gaps/inconsistencies in their data.
  • Run analyses and build benchmarking reports that show each client's results against their peer group.
  • Prepare presentation materials and help walk clients through their results alongside senior team members.
  • Respond to client questions and follow-up requests after results are delivered.
  • Suggest and support improvements to our data processes, tools and templates.

What you’ll bring to this role?

  • A personal desire to make a difference in the financial well-being of pensioners.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the investment and/or pension industry.
  • Previous experience in a client-facing role is an asset.
  • A curious mind that looks deeper than surface-level data to understand root causes.
  • The ability to find trends and create a narrative from large volumes of data.
  • Experience with advanced Excel functions and relational databases.
  • Strong analytical, coding and writing skills.
  • A university degree in Finance, Business, or Engineering. A CFA designation is a plus, but not required (if you're interested, we'll help you achieve it).
  • Written and verbal fluency in English and Dutch.

What does success look like in this role?

  • Deliver accurate, high-quality data and insights that clients can rely on.
  • Turn complex data into clear narratives that help clients understand where they stand against their peers.
  • Build strong, collaborative working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our data and methodologies.
  • Keep growing your skills and take on more responsibility as you progress toward a more senior role.

Why join us?

  • Work directly with some of Canada's leading pension funds and institutional investors.
  • Influence product development through direct client insights.
  • Enjoy the agility of a growing firm with the stability of an established global organization.
  • Work with a highly collaborative team where your ideas shape business decisions.
  • Opportunities to work with complex datasets to draw elegant insights.
  • A hybrid work environment with both in-office and at-home flexibility.
  • A curiosity-driven culture founded on a desire to improve lives.
  • A team that is stronger for its gender, cultural, and intellectual diversity.

Ready to make an impact?

If you love digging into data, enjoy turning numbers into stories, and want to grow your career while helping improve the financial well-being of pensioners, we'd love to hear from you!

Talent comes in many forms. We welcome diverse perspectives and encourage everyone to apply.

We thank all applicants for their interest in exploring employment opportunities with CEM; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
