What you'll be doing

The Financial Solutions Group (FSG) within Global Markets partners closely with institutional clients and internal teams to deliver thoughtful, market-driven foreign exchange and risk management solutions. As an Associate, Global Markets, you will support the institutional FX sales and trading business by working closely with sales, marketers, and traders to deliver timely execution, market insight, and client solutions aligned with client objectives and business priorities.

In this role, you will help build and strengthen relationships with institutional clients through proactive outreach, follow-up conversations, meetings, presentations, and value-added trade ideas. You will contribute to the delivery of FX products and solutions, supporting client activity across spot, forwards, swaps, and other hedging or derivative strategies, while developing a strong understanding of market dynamics, trade economics, and client needs. You will collaborate with partners across CIBC, including Investment and Corporate Banking, Credit, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and Client Onboarding, to support seamless transaction delivery and a high-quality client experience. You will also work closely with FX trading desks across jurisdictions to communicate client flow, monitor market themes, support trade execution, and build insight into pricing, liquidity, risk, and portfolio considerations affecting institutional clients.

In addition, you will stay closely attuned to intraday market activity and macroeconomic developments, provide clients with timely product and market information, and contribute to the smooth functioning of the business through strong knowledge of cash and derivative operations, settlement, and process improvement.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. To successfully perform the work, you'll be on-site full-time.

How you'll succeed

  • Institutional client coverage — Build and deepen relationships with institutional clients through proactive outreach, follow-up calls, meetings, presentations, and tailored FX ideas that support client objectives and strengthen engagement.
  • FX sales and trading support — Partner closely with FX sales, marketers, and traders to support the delivery and execution of foreign exchange solutions, including spot, forward, swap, and hedging-related transactions.
  • Solution delivery — Help develop and coordinate market-driven solutions that align with client needs, trading objectives, and broader business priorities, while ensuring timely and accurate execution.
  • Market insight and trade awareness — Monitor market activity, macroeconomic developments, and client themes throughout the day to respond to client requests, support idea generation, and strengthen your understanding of pricing, risk, liquidity, and trade economics.
  • Cross-functional collaboration — Liaise with teams across CIBC, including Investment and Corporate Banking, Credit, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and Client Onboarding, to facilitate transaction delivery and ensure a seamless client experience.
  • Operational excellence — Apply your knowledge of cash and derivative operations and settlement to support internal and external stakeholders, while helping identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve daily operating efficiency.
  • Continuous learning — Continue to build your expertise in FX markets, institutional client needs, and capital markets products through directed and self-directed learning, cross-training opportunities, and collaboration with colleagues and leadership.
