Job description

About Us

At Davidson & Company, our people are our strongest asset. From our humble beginning in 1984, our entrepreneurial drive has grown our firm to nearly 200 strong and established us as one of the largest independent CPA firms in British Columbia and Alberta.

From our vibrant office in downtown Vancouver and south Calgary, we offer tax, audit, and advisory services to a diverse global client base. You’ll have the chance to work with clients across a range of industries, including:

  • Mining and exploration
  • Cryptocurrency and blockchain ventures
  • Cannabis companies navigating rapid growth
  • Technology startups and scale-ups
  • Publicly listed and pre-IPO companies
  • International subsidiaries and multi-entity groups

Unlike the other behemoth accounting firms where you’re often confined to one lane, Davidson gives you the freedom and opportunity to explore multiple facets of the business. From day one, you’ll collaborate with top-notch industry leaders, develop your expertise, shape your own career path, and make an impact here at Davidson.

About the Role

Are you analytical, curious, and excited by the idea of helping businesses understand what they’re worth?

Davidson & Company is looking for an Associate, Valuations to join our growing advisory team. In this role, you’ll support a variety of valuation and financial analysis engagements and work with privately held and publicly listed businesses across a range of industries.

You’ll build financial models, analyze business performance, research emerging industries and transactions, and prepare clear, defensible valuation reports. You’ll work closely with experienced professionals who will support your development as you build your technical skills and work toward your CPA and/or Chartered Business Valuator designation.

We’re not your average accounting firm. We’re independent, entrepreneurial, and driven by collaboration, curiosity, and a healthy dose of fun.

What You’ll Do

No two days are the same, but here’s a glimpse into what you’ll be doing:

  • Support business valuation engagements, including valuations for financial reporting, tax and litigation purposes
  • Assist with intellectual property valuations, fairness opinions, purchase price allocations, and other specialized advisory engagements
  • Analyze financial statements, projections, forecasts, and other financial and operational information
  • Conduct industry, economic, market, and transaction research
  • Identify key business and financial drivers that influence value
  • Assist with sensitivity analyses and scenario modelling
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and well-supported valuation reports, presentations, and other client deliverables
  • Participate in discussions with clients, legal counsel, financial advisors, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with members of the valuations, advisory, tax, and assurance teams
  • Manage assigned responsibilities and deadlines across multiple engagements

What You’ll Bring to the Table

You’ve got the expertise, curiosity, and people skills to match:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field
  • Up to three years of relevant professional services, accounting, finance, corporate finance, or valuation experience
  • CPA or CFA designation or an interest in pursuing the designation(s) would be considered an asset. Enrolment in the CBV program or a willingness to work toward the Chartered Business Valuator designation
  • Experience building financial models is preferred
  • Experience or interest in the valuation of financial instruments would be considered an asset
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, with excellent attention to detail
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from and contribute to the broader team
  • Curiosity about businesses, industries, transactions, and the factors that influence value

What’s in It for You?

At Davidson, we invest in our people. Our total rewards package is designed to help you thrive both personally and professionally.

Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect:

  • Comprehensive health and wellness coverage from day one, including extended benefits, Telus Health EAP, and Maple Virtual Care
  • $1,000 annual mental health support allowance and a $40 monthly wellness credit
  • $250 monthly commuting and connectivity allowance
  • Three weeks of annual vacation, plus ad hoc paid time off throughout the year
  • Support through your Designation Program(s) with dedicated mentorship and paid leave to help you achieve your professional designation.
  • Opportunities to work with global clients and gain exposure to diverse industries and markets
  • Clear pathways for mentorship, leadership development, and career advancement
  • A people-first culture that fosters connection, collaboration, and meaningful experiences through team events and celebrations throughout the year

Let’s Talk Numbers

We believe in transparency and fairness when it comes to compensation. For this role, the annual salary range is $55,000–$75,000, depending on your experience and what you bring to the table.

And that’s just the beginning. Our total rewards package adds even more value beyond the base salary.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

If this sounds like your kind of role, don’t overthink it. Send us your resume and application. We’re excited to meet talented individuals who want to grow, learn, and have a little fun along the way.
