Job description

Who we are

At Aquila, we invest in category-defining B2B/B2G software companies globally, acting as a thought-partner, striving for the success of our companies in the long term. We are a well-managed, profitable company that operates like a startup with the financial backing of a parent company. For our people, this means limitless possibilities.

We are unapologetically unique, pivoting to respond to the needs of the multiple markets we operate in. We have ambitious goals, and we are looking for genuine contributors with integrity, energy, flexibility, and loyalty. We are investing in building future leaders who can take an idea and make things happen.

Who we need

GIFTSOFT and Cibar provide specialized financial technology solutions that help financial institutions manage bank to bank payments, anti-money-laundering, trade finance and other complex financial operations. Together, and backed by Constellation Software, they combine deep industry expertise with technology designed to improve efficiency, manage risk, and modernize critical banking processes.

Reporting to the Aquila Portfolio Manager, we are hiring a Business Development Representative to create new sales opportunities for GIFTSOFT and Cibar. You will utilize the latest in AI and tooling to research financial institutions, identify the right contacts, and start relevant conversations with prospective clients. Representing each business, you will build an understanding of their solutions, generate interest, and connect qualified prospects with the appropriate sales expert.

This is a full-time, fully remote position.

What’s in it for you

Ownership and influence. This is a newly created role and a new approach to business development across the portfolio. You will work closely with the Portfolio Manager and the leaders in each business to shape how the role operates, from prospecting processes and ways of working to how activity and success are measured. As the model develops, your experience and insights will help inform how similar business development roles may be introduced across other businesses.

Broader sales opportunities. Working across GIFTSOFT and Cibar gives you two distinct sets of solutions and a broader range of prospective clients and conversations to pursue. You will gain exposure to payments, fraud, compliance, and global trade finance technology while developing your ability to identify where each offering can create value for financial institutions.

Career growth. You will have the opportunity to build on your business development experience in a role with larger accounts, complex sales cycles, and senior decision-makers. Working alongside experienced sales professionals across two businesses, you will deepen your understanding of enterprise software sales and build the skills and industry knowledge to take on more of the sales cycle as you grow. This role has the potential to grow into a direct selling role if successful.

How you will make an impact

  • Open new doors. You will research financial institutions (primarily banks) and identify new prospects for both GIFTSOFT and Cibar, finding the right contacts, recognizing relevant business triggers, and creating opportunities to start conversations.
  • Prospect strategically. You will be an user of Apollo and other sales and AI-enabled tools to research accounts, identify contacts, personalize outreach, build targeted prospect lists and manage campaigns. You will combine these insights with your own judgment to determine who to approach, what will resonate, and how best to earn their attention.
  • Start meaningful conversations. You will connect with prospective clients through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels, introducing the GIFTSOFT or Cibar solution most relevant to their needs. You will tailor your approach to different stakeholders, priorities, and business challenges to create interest and open the door to further discussion.
  • Qualify and connect. You will develop enough knowledge of both businesses to confidently introduce their solutions, ask thoughtful questions, and recognize where there may be a fit. You will qualify genuine opportunities and connect prospects with the appropriate sales expert for deeper discovery and next steps.
  • Help build the playbook. As one of the first people in this shared BDR model, you will work with the business unit leaders, sales and the Portfolio Manager to refine target accounts, messaging, outreach strategies, qualification criteria, and measures of success. You will use activity and outcomes to understand what is working and help shape a repeatable approach that can evolve across the portfolio.

You bring

  • The hunter mindset. You enjoy opening doors that are not already open. You are motivated by prospecting, comfortable with cold outreach, persistent when response rates are low, and energized by turning an unknown account into a genuine sales conversation.
  • The outbound experience. You have experience generating new business through outbound calls, email, LinkedIn, or other prospecting channels. You understand that effective business development requires research, consistency, thoughtful follow-up, and the ability to handle rejection without losing momentum.
  • The AI fluency. You are comfortable using AI-powered prospecting and productivity tools to research accounts, find contacts, personalize messaging, and work more efficiently. You know how to assess and refine AI-generated information rather than simply relying on the output.
  • The communication skills. You can speak confidently with stakeholders at different levels and adjust your approach depending on who you are engaging. You know how to create enough interest in an initial conversation to earn the next one without being the product expert.
  • The curiosity and learning agility. You are comfortable learning new products, industries, and customer environments. Experience in B2B SaaS, fintech, banking, payments, trade finance, or enterprise technology helps, but demonstrated outbound capability and a strong desire to learn matter more.
  • Nurturing relationships. You build genuine rapport with stakeholders across different levels and take a long-term approach to trust-building, ensuring strong connections throughout the sales cycle.
  • Number and target oriented. You are driven by goals, metrics, and outcomes. You thrive on meeting or exceeding targets and consistently track activity to drive performance.

Why join?

GIFTSOFT, Cibar, and Aquila are part of Constellation Software Inc., one of Canada's largest and most successful software companies and its most successful technology stock over the last 10 years [TSE: CSU].

Our entrepreneurial culture, lean environment, and people come together to form a dynamic organization where purpose drives our growth. This is a place where high performance and hard work are rewarded, where leaders are grown, and where the best ideas win. With the autonomy to be creative and curious, we collaborate and iterate to achieve real impact in the communities we support.

We spend our days asking questions and challenging the status quo, manipulating our structure, roles, and internal operations in order to stay ahead in a competitive landscape.

If you share our growth mindset, relationship-focused approach, and high moral fibre, you will thrive at Aquila.

Compensation

The on-target earnings (OTE) for this role are $100,000–$140,000.

Apply now.

Diversity and inclusion are not mere words on paper to us. We welcome and appreciate candidates with a range of backgrounds and experiences. If you have most of the qualifications we are seeking, and want to play an integral role in our success, apply to express your interest.

What you can expect from our interview process:

  • A virtual interview with a Talent Advisor will be scheduled to discuss your interest in the role and share your relevant experience. The conversation will be recorded using BrightHire, an AI-powered video interview tool. More details will be shared when you are invited to interview.
  • A virtual interview with the Creative Marketing Manager and Chief Revenue Officer, focused on your outbound sales experience, approach to lead generation, use of AI and sales technology, communication skills, and ability to engage different stakeholders.
  • A virtual interview with the Portfolio Manager, focused on your approach to business development, hunter mindset, learning agility, and potential to grow within the portfolio.
  • A virtual introduction to the business unit leaders of both Cibar and GIFTSOFT.
