Could you be the full-time Carbody Structure Designer in St-Bruno we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical design expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates.

You'll play a key role in the development of the carbody structure for a major project, ensuring design consistency, alignment with best practices, and architectural guidelines. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, industrialization teams, and the project management team, contributing to the creation of innovative rail vehicles. You’ll also play a part in ensuring high-quality designs are delivered within the given time limits.

You’ll specifically take care of designing products aligned with project, platform, and industrialization requirements, but also supporting the CBS MLE (Mechanical Lead Engineer for Carbody Shell) and the Design Leader in planning, coordinating, and tracking design activities and associated deliverables.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Supporting the CBS MLE and Design Leader in planning and tracking design activities

  • Designing products aligned with project, platform, and industrialization requirements

  • Sharing progress on detailed structural designs and space allocations

  • Developing general structural concepts during project execution

  • Ensuring compliance with QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) commitments

  • Guaranteeing product performance, manufacturability, maintainability, and testability

  • Supporting Purchasing, Industrialization, and Production teams during ramp-up

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the carbody design domain

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or technical diploma with relevant experience

  • Proficiency in mechanical design using Catia V5 or equivalent

  • Knowledge of welded structures and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Fluency in French and English

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from monotonous daily routines

  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and helpful colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative projects

  • Utilise our dynamic and inclusive working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning programs

  • Progress towards roles such as Mechanical Lead Engineer or other leadership opportunities

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

Bilingualism

Proficiency in French and English is required. Knowledge of a third language is considered an asset when working with our international partners, suppliers, colleagues, and customers. In Quebec, French remains the primary working language of our company.

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!

Important to note

As a global business, we’re an equal-opportunity employer that celebrates diversity across the 63 countries we operate in. We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace for everyone.
