Job description

About Stem Health

Stem Health is reimagining the primary care experience for individuals who want a more thoughtful relationship with their health. Physician led and membership based, we combine medical excellence with the warmth of hospitality anchored in a beautifully designed flagship clinic at First Canadian Place, opening September 2026. Our care model is relationship-based, data-informed, and built on time, trust, and exceptional service.

Position Summary

At Stem Health, musculoskeletal health and bone health are closely linked pillars of our preventive care model and we are looking for a clinician who can meaningfully contribute to both. This is a dual-scope role for a Doctor of Chiropractic who is also certified to perform DEXA scanning, enabling a uniquely integrated approach to spinal health, joint function, bone mineral density assessment, and body composition analysis within a single clinical relationship.

In this role, you will deliver high-touch, personalized chiropractic care to Stem Health members while also performing DEXA bone density and body composition studies as part of their comprehensive preventive health assessments. The combination of manual clinical expertise and objective diagnostic imaging makes this role an exceptional fit for Stem Health's data-informed, relationship-based care model where every intervention is grounded in evidence and every result is integrated into the member's Unified Health Story.

Key Responsibilities

Chiropractic assessment and treatment

  • Conduct comprehensive musculoskeletal assessments including spinal, joint, and neurological evaluation, postural analysis, and functional movement screening to establish an accurate clinical picture of each member's presenting condition and underlying biomechanics.
  • Deliver high-quality chiropractic care using evidence-based manual therapy techniques including spinal and extremity manipulation, joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, and therapeutic exercise guidance.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans focused on pain relief, functional restoration, injury prevention, and long-term musculoskeletal resilience with a particular emphasis on spinal health, posture, and the musculoskeletal contributors to healthy ageing.
  • Provide targeted chiropractic management for members with osteoporosis, low bone density, or vertebral health concerns adapting technique selection, force parameters, and treatment intensity appropriately for members at elevated fracture risk.
  • Translate complex musculoskeletal and bone health findings into clear, accessible language that empowers members to understand their condition and make informed decisions about their care.

DEXA scanning and bone health imaging

  • Perform high-quality dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA/DXA) scans at central skeletal sites (lumbar spine, proximal femur, forearm) for bone mineral density assessment and fracture risk stratification, in accordance with ISCD technical standards.
  • Conduct total body composition scans to accurately measure lean mass, fat mass, visceral adipose tissue, and regional body composition as part of comprehensive metabolic and preventive health assessments.
  • Ensure precise member positioning and scan acquisition to guarantee reproducible, diagnostically reliable results reviewing each scan for image quality and completeness before release.
  • Analyze DEXA outputs accurately T-scores, Z-scores, BMD values, BMC, and body composition metrics and generate clear, well-structured reports that provide the reviewing physician with the data and context needed for high-quality clinical interpretation.
  • Perform daily phantom calibration and QC procedures to verify scanner accuracy and maintain detailed QC logs; uphold all radiation safety protocols in accordance with ALARA principles.
  • Identify and flag clinically significant DEXA findings including low bone density, vertebral fracture assessment (VFA) findings, or notable body composition patterns to the appropriate physician promptly.

Integrated bone and musculoskeletal care

  • Leverage the unique clinical combination of DEXA data and chiropractic expertise to provide members with an integrated view of their bone health, body composition, and musculoskeletal function connecting diagnostic findings to personalized treatment and preventive recommendations.
  • Contribute to fracture risk assessment and bone health management in collaboration with the physician team incorporating DEXA results, clinical history, and FRAX tool data into coordinated care planning.
  • Support Stem Health's osteoporosis and metabolic bone health program, helping members understand the relationship between bone density, body composition, spinal health, exercise, nutrition, and hormonal factors.
  • Identify members whose DEXA results warrant physician review, specialist referral (endocrinology, rheumatology), or pharmacological intervention, and facilitate appropriate care transitions promptly.

Member preparation and experience

  • Welcome members to both the treatment room and the imaging suite with warmth, professionalism, and unhurried attention explaining each service clearly, addressing questions, and ensuring members feel at ease throughout.
  • Conduct thorough member intake prior to chiropractic treatment and DEXA scanning, reviewing contraindications, clinical history, current medications, and prior imaging to guide safe and appropriate care.

Interdisciplinary collaboration and documentation

  • Work closely with physicians, physiotherapists, kinesiologists, and allied health providers to ensure chiropractic findings and DEXA results are integrated into each member's Unified Health Story via the clinic's EHR system.
  • Participate in case consultations and contribute both chiropractic and diagnostic imaging insights to interdisciplinary clinical discussions.
  • Document treatment notes, DEXA reports, QC records, and scan data accurately and promptly within the clinic's EHR and imaging management platforms.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) in good standing with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario (CCO) required.
  • Registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) or eligible for registration in the relevant imaging stream required for independent DEXA operation.
  • Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT®) through the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), or ARRT bone densitometry certification; ISCD CBDT® is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical chiropractic experience; experience in private care, integrative health, executive wellness, or preventive medicine settings is a significant asset.
  • Hands-on experience performing DEXA bone density and body composition scans, including central skeletal protocols (spine, hip) and total body composition studies.
  • Strong working knowledge of osteoporosis, bone health, fracture risk assessment (FRAX), and the clinical interpretation of DEXA T-scores, Z-scores, and body composition metrics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in evidence-based chiropractic manual therapy, spinal manipulation, joint mobilization, and functional movement assessment with appropriate technique adaptation for members with low bone density or fracture risk.
  • Meticulous attention to DEXA positioning accuracy, image quality, and QC protocol adherence.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills warm, credible, and able to explain both chiropractic and bone health findings clearly to highly health engaged members.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and digital imaging platforms (PACS).
  • Current professional liability insurance required.

Ideal Candidate

You are a chiropractor who understands that bone health and musculoskeletal health are two sides of the same clinical picture and you are as comfortable discussing a member's T-score and FRAX risk as you are treating their lumbar spine. You take equal pride in the precision of your DEXA acquisitions and the quality of your manual therapy. You communicate findings with confidence and warmth, adapt your chiropractic approach thoughtfully based on bone density data, and genuinely enjoy working in a data-rich, multidisciplinary environment where your scope and contribution go beyond the treatment table.

Why Join Stem Health

  • The opportunity to practice chiropractic and DEXA scanning as an integrated clinical combination within a single preventive health model.
  • Practice at a physician-led clinic at First Canadian Place founding team, opening September 2026.
  • Time-rich appointments with a health-engaged member population and access to on-site diagnostics, a full DEXA suite, and a Unified Health Story that informs every treatment.
  • A collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical team physicians, physiotherapists, kinesiologists, and allied health providers where your dual expertise is recognized and valued.
  • Meaningful growth: help shape the bone health and musculoskeletal care program of next-generation preventive primary care in Canada.
