Your Opportunity:

Our team is seeking an Indigenous Clinical Supervisor to support the Indigenous Support Line, which is a provincial telephone support service available to Indigenous peoples in Alberta. This position is accountable for overseeing the safe, effective and appropriate delivery of the Helpline service. This role provides immediate consultation and supervision to on-shift Listeners, including clinical consultation, supporting problem solving and decision making, and call/ shift debriefing. This position is responsible for day-to-day problem solving related to staffing, technology, and business processes. To thrive in this role, you will leverage your understanding of Indigenous communities across the province and utilize resources available to respond to caller needs using culturally-safe, strength-based approaches. The selected candidate will be expected to work on-site to foster effective team collaboration and deliver optimal Health Link services. Required competencies include cultural safety and anti-racist practices, knowledge of Indigenous histories, trauma-informed practice, crisis intervention and clinical skills. Strong technical skills are required and comfort using multiple electronic platforms. As this role supports staff development and education, knowledge and experience in adult education and clinical supervision is important to support staff clinically and in areas such as cultural safety, combating anti-Indigenous racism, and offering cultural, linguistic, and holistic support. This role also works closely with program leadership and other Indigenous focused programs in health services and communities across the province.

This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial and psychological interventions), and other activities. You will be required to supervise regulated staff requiring supervision to meet the regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. This may include observing clinical sessions, reviewing clinical documentation and written reports, conducting team case consultations and offering support, and providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. In your role, you may work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners in support of effective professional and collaborative practice. You may contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community. You may also identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues.
