Job description

About Omicron

Omicron is one of Western Canada’s largest integrated development, design, and construction firms — uniting real estate strategists, architects, interior designers, engineers, and builders as One Omicron. We believe that when all disciplines work together from day one, we deliver a better way of creating buildings: faster decisions, fewer handoffs, stronger outcomes, and a far better experience for clients and partners.

Founded in 1998 on the belief that curiosity, courage, respect, and connection drive exceptional work, Omicron continues to challenge convention and innovate within an industry known for outdated processes. Our tech‑forward mindset, collaborative model, and entrepreneurial culture empower our teams to solve complex problems, push boundaries, and deliver meaningful impact in the communities where we work.

We spark curiosity. We show courage. We value respect. We create connections. And above all — We are One Omicron.

The Opportunity & Team

Omicron is hiring a Construction Safety Officer to support our expanding portfolio of a multi-family rental of 110 units and strengthen our integrated design–build delivery model. As our pipeline grows, this role plays a pivotal part in delivering smarter, more coordinated project outcomes informed by collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.

You’ll join the Traverse Project reporting to the Senior Superintendent, working closely with construction teams and the Safety Advisor. This role will be a fixed term contract for the duration of the project, which is estimated to take two years from November 2026 until completion. The team is known for problem solving, team, strong trade coordination, field-driven construction management, being proactive rather than reactive, and you’ll contribute to work that accelerates decision‑making, deepens alignment across disciplines, and elevates project quality from concept to completion.

What You’ll Do

  1. Safety Management
  • Support a positive culture of safety on site where all workers share in the importance of safety
  • Develop and implement safety programs by inspecting or reviewing areas, equipment, processes, and work activities for hazardous conditions in electrical utility areas
  • Assist with the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures, as part of the Omicron Health and Safety Manual
  • Provide guidance to field team members via safety briefings
  • Assist with development and delivery of occupational safety training for various workgroups, including evaluation and modification of programs to meet local, provincial, and federal OHSA requirements
  • Provide direction and/or guidance to less experienced occupational safety personnel
  • Provide training to managers and others on occupational safety issues
  • Act as member of Omicron’s Health & Safety committee by providing safety advice and executing initiatives arising from committee meetings
  1. Safety Administration
  • Administer the Omicron Health & Safety program and policies and procedures on site
  • Assist the Site Superintendent with housekeeping and maintaining a safe, clean and orderly job site
  • Conduct and document Incident/Accident First Aid Reports
  • Responsible to complete twice daily workplace inspections for the purpose of identifying hazards and identifying and correcting unsafe work practices and conditions and submitting inspection reports to the Superintendent of the site. These conditions are to be brought to the attention of workers who may be exposed to them and, where practicable, the hazards are eliminated. Take immediate action to correct sub-standard safety conditions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regularly occurring safety meetings
  • Assist with WorkSafeBC processing and claims management
  • Provide orientation to workers on site prior to start of work and to all site visitors
  • Ensure that all near misses, property damage incidents or injuries are reported
  • Responsible to develop and communicate an appropriate emergency plan on the job site in conjunction with the Safety Program Manager
  • Create and maintain records of all treatment administered
  • Maintain reasonable access to a first aid kit and first aid room (when first aid room is required)
  • WHMIS 2015-controlled materials are identified and labeled
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are collected from contractors and subcontractors and kept available on site
  1. Miscellaneous
  • Assist additional labour forces to complete miscellaneous tasks
  • Perform other duties as required

What You’ll Bring

  • 5-10 years of construction site experience design and/or construction company experience
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum Level 2 Occupational First Aid, but Level 3 Occupational First Aid preferred
  • Member of NCSO and BCRSP
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of provincial safety codes/regulations
  • Possesses strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent capability within Outlook, MSWord and Excel
  • Able to build and maintain professional relationships internally and externally
  • Maintains a positive image of the project and the site to the general public
  • Effective communication and influence skills to deliver a message clearly and respectfully
  • Delivers on promises made internally and externally
  • Collaborative approach to working on project teams
  • Ability to direct, guide and train others on safety issues and regulations

If your experience looks different but you believe you can excel, we encourage you to still apply!
