This is a 6 month fixed term contract, with potential for extension, commencing 4 January 2027.

This posting reflects an existing vacancy.

JOB PURPOSE

This role is part of our Global Studios team. We create emotive yet conversion-focused ideas, products and campaigns at scale and speed. Our specialty is hyper-personalised, digital communications that change perceptions, shape new behaviours, and shift market share for our clients.

We’re looking for a Creative Developer to join a team delivering high-profile digital experiences for one of the biggest technology brands in the world.

This is not a traditional frontend engineering role.

We're looking for someone who lives at the intersection of design, motion, interaction, and engineering. Someone who can take exceptional visual design and bring it to life through animation, storytelling, interactivity, and meticulous frontend craftsmanship.

The ideal candidate is passionate about creating experiences that feel memorable, delightful, and visually polished. They care deeply about UX, UI, motion design, transitions, timing, responsiveness, micro-interactions, and the overall quality of the user experience. They care as much about how an experience feels as how it is built.

You’ll work closely with designers and engineers to build robust, reusable frontend components and experiences using Angular, TypeScript, and modern CSS.

You’ll operate within a structured development environment with established patterns, review processes, and quality standards. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly detail-oriented, comfortable challenging inconsistencies, and confident bridging the gap between design intent and technical implementation.

We are looking for someone capable of building premium digital experiences comparable to the quality commonly seen on Awwwards, FWA, and other leading creative showcases, with exceptional attention to motion, interaction, performance, and visual polish.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Build premium interactive digital experiences using Angular, TypeScript, advanced CSS and modern frontend technologies
  • Build scalable, reusable components aligned to broader design systems and frontend architecture
  • Translate high-fidelity Figma designs into polished, responsive, production-ready experiences
  • Create sophisticated motion systems, scripted animations, transitions, and interactive behaviours that elevate the user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, refining designs to ensure consistency and scalability across components and flows
  • Champion high standards for frontend quality, responsiveness, accessibility, and performance
  • Follow established coding standards, patterns, and development best practices consistently
  • Contribute to frontend decisions and implementation approaches
  • Work within structured development and code review workflows, maintaining strong attention to detail throughout delivery
  • Proactively identify implementation issues, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Contribute to a clean, maintainable, and scalable codebase

WHAT YOU BRING:

Front-End Development

  • Experience in frontend development at a fast paced agency
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, Angular & TypeScript
  • Experience building modular, reusable frontend components and systems
  • Experience translating complex UI designs into polished implementations
  • Experience with modern animation technologies such as GSAP, Framer Motion, and CSS animation systems
  • Experience creating scripted animations and fluid interactive experiences
  • Comfortable collaborating closely with design teams and contributing to UX discussions
  • High attention to detail in both visual implementation and code quality
  • Comfortable with code review workflows, automated checks, linting, and validation pipelines
  • Experience writing and maintaining frontend unit and component tests
  • Ability to proactively identify issues, propose improvements, and drive solutions forward

Collaboration and Communication

  • Clear and direct communicator with a collaborative mindset
  • Being adaptable, learning quickly, and keeping up with a fast paced dynamic environment
  • Comfortable presenting your ideas to clients and internal stakeholders

Desirable

  • Experience with JSON, 3D technologies such as Three.js and WebGL
  • Experience building immersive or motion-heavy digital experiences

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 CAD. Salary is based on relevant experience, expertise, and organizational impact.

WE OFFER

  • A flexible, hybrid working policy.
  • An excellent salary based on experience and equal pay policies.
  • Mental health support, and company sick pay scheme.
  • 15 days paid holiday annually (plus Public Holidays).
  • Refreshments are provided in the office all week.
  • Enhanced family friendly policies to support new parents.
  • Social and Cultural Events, plenty of opportunities to connect with colleagues through organised activities and celebrations.
  • Inspirational Talks, bringing the outside in with regular guest speakers and events.
  • Learning and Development, supporting your growth with continuous opportunities to learn and advance.
  • Buddy Programme: You will be paired with a ‘Buddy’ to help you through your first weeks’ at DEPT®.
  • A reputation for doing good. DEPT® has been a Certified B Corp® since 2021 and named ‘Agency of the Year’ at both The Lovies and The Webby Awards.
  • Awesome clients. Whether big or small, local or global — at DEPT® you’ll get the opportunity to work with clients of all sizes and across all industries. And we celebrate all of our successes together!
  • The opportunity for possibility. We want to enable you to do what you do best and help you develop your skills further with training, development and certifications.
