Job description

Zafin is an AI platform company helping regulated institutions modernize how critical work is designed, governed, and delivered. Our technology enables organizations to move faster while maintaining the governance, accountability, and control required in highly regulated environments.

Our portfolio includes Zafin AIOS, an agent orchestration platform for governed AI work; the Zafin Banking Platform, which helps banks modernize product, pricing, offers, billing, loyalty, and relationship management; and Zafin IO, an integration platform that connects data, systems, and workflows across complex enterprise environments.

Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Zafin partners with leading financial institutions across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. As AI transforms the future of financial services, we're building the platforms that help regulated organizations adopt AI responsibly and at scale.

What is the Opportunity?

Lead the FinOps function. As Director, FinOps (Cloud Financial Management), you will shape and advance Zafin’s cloud financial management strategy. You will build and lead a scalable FinOps function that delivers measurable, sustainable cost savings while safeguarding platform reliability, security, and engineering productivity.

Shape cloud investment decisions. You will define how Zafin manages and optimizes cloud investments across its banking technology platforms. Working with Engineering, Cloud Operations, Product, and Finance, you will strengthen financial accountability, increase cost visibility, and embed cost-conscious decision-making across technology and business operations.

Apply AI and automation. You will use AI-driven analytics, automation, and intelligent cost monitoring to improve forecasting, identify optimization opportunities, detect spending anomalies, and strengthen cloud financial governance.

Deliver sustainable business value. Your leadership will improve cloud cost efficiency and financial predictability, ensuring Zafin’s cloud investments generate lasting value.

What Will You Do?

  • Define and lead Zafin’s FinOps strategy, governance framework, and cloud cost optimization program across Microsoft Azure and platform services.
  • Deliver measurable cloud savings through resource optimization, improved utilization, cost avoidance, and stronger financial accountability.
  • Lead cloud budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting to increase cost visibility and improve predictability.
  • Partner with Engineering, Cloud Operations, Product, and Finance to embed cost-efficient practices in architecture, infrastructure, and operational decisions.
  • Optimize Azure infrastructure spending across compute, storage, networking, AKS/Kubernetes, Reserved Instances, and observability services.
  • Establish cost allocation models, tagging standards, financial controls, and unit economics to strengthen cloud cost management.
  • Implement FinOps tools, dashboards, AI-assisted analytics, automation, and anomaly detection to uncover savings opportunities and reinforce financial governance.
  • Provide executives with clear reporting on cloud spending, savings performance, financial risks, and strategic recommendations.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing FinOps team, foster cross-functional collaboration, and create a culture of cloud cost accountability.

What Do You Need to Succeed?

Must Haves

  • Relevant experience: 10+ years in cloud infrastructure, platform operations, technology finance, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), or FinOps, including at least three years in a leadership role.

  • Azure expertise: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and the cost drivers for compute, storage, networking, Kubernetes/AKS, and observability services.
