Role Overview

At Encepta, our engineering teams help deliver practical, high-quality infrastructure solutions across telecommunications and utility networks.

We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer – Distribution to support a major joint-use infrastructure program in British Columbia. This is a technically focused role for a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with strong experience in electrical distribution, aerial infrastructure and pole systems.

You’ll play a key role in reviewing engineering work and providing technical guidance while gaining exposure to both the electrical utility and telecommunications sides of joint-use infrastructure.

Why work for Encepta?

Encepta is a growing Canadian infrastructure company providing planning, design and data-collection services to telecommunications providers, utilities and municipalities. We combine technical expertise, innovative tools and practical field knowledge to help our clients build better networks and more connected communities.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Apply your electrical distribution expertise to a major BC infrastructure program
  • Review technical work and help ensure engineering quality and compliance
  • Work across both electrical utility and telecommunications infrastructure
  • Build specialized expertise in joint-use pole infrastructure
  • Contribute to a pole pilot program designed to create a more integrated approach to utility and telecommunications pole work

We also offer:

  • Impactful Work: Contribute to infrastructure programs that support reliable utility and telecommunications networks across British Columbia.
  • Technical Growth: Expand your experience beyond traditional electrical distribution into joint-use and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Collaborative Team: Work alongside experienced technical professionals who value quality, practical problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Flexible Work Options: Combine remote flexibility with purposeful in-person collaboration through our hybrid working arrangement.

What You’ll Work On

You’ll provide engineering expertise across aerial electrical distribution and joint-use infrastructure, with a strong focus on technical review and engineering quality.

You’ll also:

  • Review electrical distribution designs and technical deliverables for accuracy, quality and compliance
  • Support engineering work involving aerial distribution systems and pole infrastructure
  • Apply professional engineering judgement to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Support utility pole replacement, relocation and joint-use infrastructure projects
  • Collaborate with internal project teams supporting electrical and telecommunications infrastructure
  • Help ensure project work meets applicable engineering requirements and client expectations
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of a large-scale pole infrastructure program in British Columbia

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Strong experience in electrical distribution
  • Experience working with aerial distribution systems
  • Practical knowledge of pole infrastructure
  • Strong technical review skills and the ability to assess engineering work independently
  • Sound engineering judgement and a strong focus on quality

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

  • You are technically strong and confident reviewing engineering work.
  • You bring sound professional judgement and can identify issues before they become larger project risks.
  • You understand aerial electrical distribution and pole infrastructure in practical terms.
  • You enjoy sharing your knowledge and helping junior team members develop their technical capability.
  • You are comfortable working across disciplines and are interested in building deeper expertise in joint-use infrastructure.
  • You are motivated by technically challenging work and the opportunity to contribute to a developing area of infrastructure delivery.

Apply today and help Encepta deliver the next generation of joint-use infrastructure across British Columbia.
