  • Work with Operations and Project Leaders to support project planning, technical scopes, estimates, proposals, resource requirements, and client-specific needs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering and technical personnel, supporting competency development, training, and knowledge sharing.
  • Evaluate new technologies, industry developments, and opportunities to expand WQS’s engineering capabilities and improve service delivery.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish technical priorities, manage engineering risks, and support business objectives.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, technical integrity, continuous improvement, and professional excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Materials, Welding, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta, with eligibility and willingness to serve as an APEGA Responsible Member for WQS’s Permit to Practice, subject to APEGA acceptance.
  • Approximately 10 years of progressive engineering experience in pressure equipment, asset integrity, mechanical integrity, materials, welding, structural assessment, or a related industrial field.
  • Approximately five years of experience reviewing or approving engineering calculations and professional engineering deliverables.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 Fitness-for-Service assessment methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Alberta pressure equipment legislation, ABSA requirements, applicable industry codes, and professional engineering practice.
  • Experience developing or reviewing engineering procedures, technical documentation, quality processes, and integrity assessment recommendations.
  • Previous experience in an engineering leadership, technical authority, or Responsible Member role is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical personnel, resolve complex engineering challenges, and collaborate with Operations and industrial clients.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
