Job Description

As part of the Event Operations team, you will collaborate with Venue Operations and key operational stakeholders at Scotiabank Arena to support the continued development and implementation of the Scotiabank Arena’s “Event Ready” operating framework for Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors games. The primary focus of this role will be to develop and maintain detailed operational event maps using AutoCAD and Autodesk tools, documenting the use of back-of-house (BOH) areas, storage spaces, operational staging areas, equipment and assets, and other critical venue spaces. The intern will help translate existing operational practices, standards, and responsibilities into clear visual documentation that complements the Operations Handbook and creates a consistent and repeatable approach to event readiness.

Working closely with Event Operations, Venue Services, Fan Services, Security, Food & Beverage, and other venue stakeholders, the intern will help build an integrated operational resource that supports event planning, onboarding, training, event-day execution, and continuous improvement.

Reports to: Senior Manager, Event Operations

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build upon the existing Scotiabank Arena Venue Operations Handbook by developing the supporting spatial and visual documentation required to further define the venue’s Event Ready operating standards.
  • Collaborate with Event Operations and other Scotiabank Arena stakeholders to understand and document who performs key operational activities, when they occur, how they are completed, and where they take place within the venue.
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed AutoCAD drawings and operational event maps for Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors games, identifying the intended use and configuration of key venue spaces.
  • Document back-of-house areas, storage rooms, corridors, event-level spaces, operational staging areas, and other event-critical locations, including the positioning of operational assets and equipment required to prepare the building for an event.
  • Support the development of a consistent “Event Ready” standard by translating operational requirements, existing procedures, venue walkthroughs, and stakeholder feedback into clear drawings, layouts, maps, and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct venue walkthroughs with operational teams to validate drawings and Operations Handbook requirements against actual event-day conditions, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and ensure documentation accurately reflects how the building operates.
  • Work with operational leaders to identify and document differences between Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors configurations, including event-specific space requirements, operational asset locations, staging requirements, and workflows.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a centralized and organized library of venue drawings, event maps, floor plans, operational standards, and supporting documentation that complements the Venue Operations Handbook and can be utilized for planning, onboarding, training, and event execution.
  • Support continuous improvement of the Venue Operations Handbook and Event Ready framework by identifying opportunities to improve workflows, space utilization, asset organization, storage, staging, and operational readiness throughout Scotiabank Arena.

Winter Term: January 4th - April 23

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in architecture, architectural technology, engineering, construction management, facility management, interior design, building sciences, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD, including the ability to independently create, modify, organize, and maintain detailed 2D drawings and floor plans.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and facility drawings and translate field conditions, operational processes, and stakeholder requirements into clear and accurate drawings.
  • Strong spatial awareness, technical aptitude, organizational skills, and attention to detail, with an interest in understanding how physical spaces, people, processes, and assets come together to support complex event operations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with multiple operational stakeholders, gather requirements, document processes, and incorporate feedback into drawings and operational documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint); experience with additional Autodesk products or other architectural design, or visualization software would be considered an asset.
