Job description

CPA Ontario is not like other organizations
We operate at a rare intersection, both regulator and membership body, responsible for upholding the integrity of the CPA designation while supporting more than 105,000 members and 19,000 students across the province. Our work sits between business and the public interest, between the evolving demands of industry and the standards that make trust possible.

Careers built here tend to look different because the work itself is different. You are not simply contributing to an organization. You are helping shape a profession that touches nearly every sector of the economy at a moment when expectations, technology, and the nature of work are all being rewritten.

About This Opportunity
CPA Ontario is seeking an Examination and Accommodation Officer who will play a pivotal role in supporting the future of the CPA profession by ensuring examinations are delivered with integrity, fairness, and excellence. As a key member of the team, you will oversee examination operations and accommodation services that enable students to demonstrate their knowledge in an accessible, secure, and supportive environment.
This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about student success, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to uphold assessment standards, resolve complex student matters, and continuously enhance the examination experience. Through your leadership and expertise, you will help maintain the credibility of the CPA designation while supporting students on their journey toward becoming Chartered Professional Accountants.

To Be Successful You’ll Need

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent post-secondary education.
  • Experience in professional education, examination administration, event coordination, or vendor management.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing teams while fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience creating macros and automating processes is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, navigate complex situations, and deliver results under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and provide exceptional service to students, colleagues, and external partners.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and the overall student experience.
  • The ability to lift and move examination materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of exam preparation and administration activities.
  • Flexibility to support examination operations outside of standard business hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, during peak examination periods.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead Examination Operations and Delivery - Provide end-to-end leadership for the planning, scheduling, and administration of examinations across Ontario. Ensure examinations are delivered securely, fairly, and in compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements, while proactively managing risks, maintaining exam integrity, and resolving complex issues before, during, and after exam sittings.
  • Manage Examination Logistics and Resources - Coordinate the operational infrastructure that supports successful examination delivery, including exam facilities, contractor recruitment and oversight, budget administration, forecasting, and the preparation, distribution, and tracking of examination materials. Ensure all resources are effectively deployed to support a seamless examination experience.
  • Champion Accessibility and Accommodation Services - Oversee the examination accommodation process to ensure students receive equitable access to assessments. Collaborate with the national accommodations panel, review recommendations, communicate decisions, coordinate accommodation implementation, and identify opportunities to enhance accessibility, efficiency, and the student experience.
  • Support Student Success Through Expert Guidance and Escalation Management -Serve as a trusted resource for students and internal stakeholders by providing guidance on examination policies, procedures, and program requirements. Resolve complex inquiries, concerns, complaints, and exam-related issues with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment, ensuring a positive and supportive student experience.
  • Contribute to the Evolution of the CPA Professional Program - Partner with leadership to support the strategic and operational implementation of the evolving CPA Professional Program. Identify operational risks and opportunities, contribute to process and system enhancements, and help shape examination-related workflows that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and the overall student experience.

Why Join CPA Ontario?

  • We are committed to inclusion as a core part of how we operate, not as an afterthought.
  • We have a hybrid working environment, with three days a week on-site, complemented by 2 days of remote working. We are intentional about that: the work we do benefits from being together. We want those days you work from home to be comfortable and offer a one-time bonus towards a home office when you start. However, due to the nature of the position, this role will require you to be available outside of office hours if required, this would be communicated in advance wherever possible.
  • We invest in your growth through learning and professional development opportunities, stretch projects, secondments, and genuine paths for career progression.
  • We move quickly. The pace reflects the profession we serve; it can be demanding, but the work matters, and the team around you is invested in the same outcomes you have.
