The Executive Director is responsible for advancing Agape Table's mission while ensuring effective and sustainable operations. This position leads staff and volunteers, oversees program delivery, drives fundraising initiatives, manages financial resources, and serves as the organization's primary ambassador.

The Executive Director will also strengthen relationships with community partners, including Indigenous organizations and service providers, while supporting Agape Table's commitment to reconciliation and culturally responsive service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic and operational plans.
  • Support effective governance through regular reporting, recommendations, and oversight of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Foster an organizational culture grounded in respect, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Operations and Program Delivery

  • Oversee daily operations, including program delivery, facilities management, food distribution, and resource management.
  • Ensure programs and services respond to community needs and align with organizational priorities.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for individuals accessing Agape Table’s services.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance programs and services through community feedback and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, legislative, and regulatory requirements.

People and Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and support employees and volunteers.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace that values diverse perspectives and lived experiences.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and recognition of staff and volunteers.

Community Engagement and Advocacy

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and representative of Agape Table.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies, government representatives, donors, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Advance the organization’s commitment to reconciliation, cultural awareness, and responsive service delivery.
  • Represent Agape Table at community events, committees, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Identify partnerships that improve access to food, resources, and essential community supports.

Fundraising and Financial Stewardship

  • Lead fundraising, grant development, donor engagement, and resource development initiatives.
  • Develop sustainable funding strategies through donations, grants, events, and community partnerships.
  • Prepare and oversee annual budgets, financial plans, and reporting to the Board.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen long-term financial sustainability.

Qualifications

Education

Post-secondary education in nonprofit management, business administration, social sciences, community development, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

The ideal candidate will bring progressive leadership experience within the nonprofit, charitable, community services, or social services sector, with demonstrated experience in:

  • Leading and developing staff and volunteers.
  • Strategic planning and operational management.
  • Financial management, budgeting, and organizational sustainability.
  • Fundraising, grant development, and donor relations.
  • Nonprofit governance and working effectively with a Board of Directors.
  • Building community partnerships and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Responding to evolving and complex community needs.

Experience working respectfully with Indigenous communities, organizations, or partners is considered an asset, along with an understanding of Indigenous histories and a commitment to reconciliation.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time position based in Winnipeg, requiring flexibility for occasional evening and weekend commitments, including Board meetings, fundraising activities, and community events.
