Role and Facility Information

This is your chance to join an established group practice in Trail, BC. This opportunity has it all - and then some - for you to design the practice you want, steps from world-class outdoor recreation, yet with big city amenities.

Columbia Primary Care is a collegial group of six Primary Care Providers sharing a spacious clinic in downtown Trail. The practice offers a mix of patients, and the clinic providers support each other in taking up to 8 weeks off per year for holidays and CPD.

Our office offers a friendly and efficient environment with support from our experienced MOAs and Registered Nurse, and in-clinic access to Primary Care Network resources including Social Worker and Primary Care RN. There is additional access to regional PCN resources including a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Pharmacist, Respiratory Therapist, Registered Dietitian, and Aboriginal Health Coordinator. We currently use Med Access as our EMR and provide a mix of in-person and virtual care.

The clinic layout boasts a welcoming waiting room and a minor operating room (OR), and each Primary Care Provider has an office/exam room with a view of the Columbia River and a well-equipped second exam room. The clinic has GP subspecialty practices including Dermatology, Diabetes, and Pain Management. It is also a teaching practice for third year medical students and family practice residents. Further specialty support, available at the nearby Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, includes Anesthesia, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Internal Medicine, ICU, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Plastics, Urology, Pathology, and Ophthalmology.

Compensation types include the option to choose from the Fee-for-Service or the Longitudinal Family Physician payment model.

Living in the Kootenays is amazing. Nearby Rossland has been named Canada’s Best Ski Town by US Today for 2 years in a row and features 2,919 feet of vertical at Red Resort. There is great cross-country skiing at Blackjack, mountain biking on over 200 kms of maintained trails, hiking, an aquatic centre in Trail, and the option to practice pretty much every organized sport. The area boasts a thriving arts and culture scene, good restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping.

Generous rural recruitment incentives are available, including relocation funding, sign-on bonus, retention flat fee, and CME allocation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide comprehensive medical care for patients of all ages

- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions

- Perform preventive care, screenings, and immunizations

- Order and interpret diagnostic tests

- Prescribe and monitor medications

- Perform minor in-office procedures (e.g., suturing, lesion removal, IUDs)

- Provide patient education and counselling

- Coordinate referrals to specialists and allied health providers

- Maintain accurate electronic medical records

- Collaborate with clinic team members and participate in quality improvement
