Job description

Why this Role

Enjoy working independently, travelling, and using technology in the field? Join Encepta’s team and help collect the information that supports telecommunications infrastructure planning and delivery.

We’re seeking two reliable, safety-conscious Field Specialists to drive LiDAR-equipped mapping vehicles and carry out telecom field audits across BC and Alberta. When weather prevents mapping, you’ll support other field programs, with training provided on Encepta’s equipment and methods.

This role involves extensive travel with minimum periods of approximately two to three weeks away from home. It’s suited to someone who enjoys life on the road, takes ownership of their work, and adapts confidently to changing plans.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Safely driving assigned routes and operating vehicle-mounted mapping equipment.
  • Completing telecom field audits and other field data collection tasks.
  • Planning trips around mapping priorities, weather conditions and schedules.
  • Arranging travel and accommodation within approved budgets.
  • Completing vehicle and equipment checks and reporting operational issues.
  • Maintaining accurate field records, daily updates and route progress.
  • Keeping vehicles and equipment clean, secure and ready for use.

What Success Looks Like

You’ll demonstrate success by:

  • Completing assigned mapping routes and field tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Working independently while maintaining clear communication with the team.
  • Adjusting travel plans responsibly when weather or priorities change.
  • Taking care of equipment and consistently following safe work practices.

What We’re Looking For

  • Two to three years of telecommunications experience, ideally in installation or fieldwork.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Confidence using technology and learning new equipment.
  • Strong organization, reliability, and comfort working independently.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across BC and Alberta, including extended overnight stays.
  • Ability to manage travel bookings and expenses within established budgets.

What’s In It for YOU?

  • Hands-on training: learn Encepta’s mapping equipment and telecom field methods.
  • Advanced technology: work with LiDAR-equipped vehicles and modern data collection tools.
  • Independence: take ownership of your assignments and travel planning.
  • Varied fieldwork: combine vehicle-based mapping with telecom field audits.
