Job description

About the Company

HGA is an accounting firm at its core, but the practice is broader than that. The HGA Group brings together fractional finance, legal, advisory, tax, health and wealth, benefits, and human resources everything a business owner needs, built under one roof and designed to work together.

Our brand, Building Better Tomorrows, extends beyond our clients. It reflects how we operate as a team, with a focus on meaningful work, strong relationships, and long-term impact.

We are large enough to offer meaningful opportunities while remaining small enough to ensure individual contributions are recognized. People who seek greater responsibility often find it here, and when they are ready for more, we take notice.

The Opportunity

The Financial Analyst plays a critical role in the Integrated Financial Services (“IFS”) division. IFS is a fractional accounting and business advisory division. Our group embeds financial professionals directly into client operations, giving businesses the accounting expertise they need, sized to what they require.

The work varies by design. Some days focus on ensuring the accuracy of financial data and reporting. Others involve building forecasts, analyzing performance, and working with clients to understand what their numbers mean and what decisions follow.

This role is designed to build range across accounting, analysis, and advisory services, while developing professionals who can move from technical execution to real client impact.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Accounting & Data Integrity

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of underlying financial data
  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll support
  • Review transactional workflows to ensure completeness and consistency across systems
  • Prepare and support account reconciliations
  • Identify discrepancies, data issues, and process gaps

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow summaries
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, complete, and consistent
  • Investigate and explain variances and unusual results
  • Maintain alignment across financial statements
  • Deliver reporting on time and to a high standard

Financial Analysis & Insight

  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Analyze trends, cost drivers, and financial performance
  • Support decision-making through scenario modeling and analysis
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis across profitability, cost structure, and operations
  • Contribute to process improvements and stronger internal controls

Client Communication & Advisory Support

  • Present financial results and insights clearly to clients and stakeholders
  • Translate financial data into operational and strategic implications
  • Prepare structured insights and recommendations
  • Communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial audiences
  • Support client relationships and advisory engagements

Qualifications

Why this Role

This role is built for someone who wants more than a traditional accounting position.

You’ll move from building clean financials to understanding what drives them — and eventually to helping clients decide what to do next. If you’re looking for a role that combines technical depth, analytical thinking, and real business exposure, this is where that progression happens.

Who You Are

  • You take the fundamentals seriously, and want to build beyond them
  • Accuracy matters to you; you catch issues before anyone else does
  • You can explain financial information clearly to non-accountants
  • You manage your workload, meet deadlines, and ask for help when needed
  • You’re curious about how businesses actually operate, not just how they report

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in a public accounting firm
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable with reconciliations, financial reporting, and analysis

· CPA designation or active progress toward CPA
