Job description

The Financial Analyst is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of monthly and annual reporting requirements. You will oversee the accompanying analysis—including variance analysis, accounting of transactions, and the delivery of financial information on a timely and accurate basis. Candidates must possess strong organizational and analytical skills in a position that is very detail-oriented.

Our department culture is steady-paced and flexible; we highly value deep, independent focus ("heads-down" time) during our busy periods, balanced with purposeful collaboration when we need to brainstorm ideas, provide key updates, or work together for learning purposes. To thrive here, you should possess a holistic understanding of the full accounting cycle and grasp how different sub-areas of finance interconnect and influence the general ledger. This is an intermediate, mid-level role designed for an ambitious professional looking to master their core financial skill set, with structured room for long-term career growth and advancement within our growing team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Compile and prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and adjustments;
  • Prepare and process journal entries originating from various sub-functional areas, ensuring entries balance with the GL and reflecting a strong understanding of upstream and downstream impacts;
  • Maintain and journalize prepaid transactions ensuring completeness and accuracy, and assist in the month-end accounting close process;
  • Perform a reasonability test on key financial items such as revenues and general expenses;
  • Prepare and/or review budget information relating to utilities and building expenses;
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and resolve findings or errors with responsible staff, ensuring smooth, cross-functional accounting processes are maintained;
  • Assist in the preparation and publishing of monthly financial statements and supporting analytical reports.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: University degree in Accounting/Finance;
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a financial analysis role;
  • Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) is a must;
  • Core Competencies: Excellent time management skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to multitask effectively;
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey insights clearly and concisely. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff;
  • Work Style: A strong ability to work autonomously during core reporting periods, while remaining an active, insightful participant in team learning and collaborative sessions;
  • Systems & Cycles Knowledge: Deep understanding of the full accounting cycle and the operational workflows between different finance sub-departments.

The expected base salary range for this existing position is $70,000.00 - $82,000.00. Final base salary offers will reflect an assessment of the selected candidate's skills, demonstrated competencies, and adherence to our internal pay equity framework.
