About DarkVision Technologies Inc.

DarkVision is a Vancouver-based tech company that has been disrupting the industrial imaging market since 2013. We have created the world’s most advanced acoustic-based imaging platform, revolutionizing how our clients quantify and visualize the integrity of their critical assets.

Backed by Blackstone, one of the world’s largest private equity firms, DarkVision’s team of Software, Mechanical, and Machine Learning Engineers and Data Analysts is rapidly expanding to meet the demand for the company’s current and upcoming products.

Our employees work on cutting-edge technologies that blend science with real-world applications. We invite you to join our team for the exciting journey ahead as we become the global leader in industrial imaging.

Role Overview

DarkVision is looking for a practical and commercially minded lawyer to join our team in North Vancouver, BC.

You will be DarkVision’s primary in-house legal resource, with a strong focus on customer contracts and supporting our growing international operations. You will work closely with our Finance and Operations team to assess legal risks and help the business find practical ways forward.

A significant portion of the role will involve reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements for both Customers and Suppliers. You will also support our growing international operations by leading all the various corporate and regulatory matters that a fast-growing tech company needs.

We are looking for someone who can understand the legal issues, determine what matters to the business, and provide clear and practical advice without creating unnecessary complexity. You’ll be expected to familiarize yourself with the latest and greatest AI legal tools to become a trusted source of counsel for DV’s leadership, and minimize our need for external counsel.

This role is 100% on-site at our North Vancouver, BC HQ, where employees enjoy a wide array of amenities including a fully equipped gym, squash court, steam room, climbing wall, and more!

What You Will Do

  • Review, draft, and negotiate customer contracts, MSAs, NDAs, and other commercial agreements.
  • Advise internal teams on contractual matters including liability, indemnities, intellectual property, confidentiality, insurance, warranties, and data rights.
  • Assist with international corporate matters, including powers of attorney, corporate registrations, director and officer matters, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Help improve DarkVision's contract templates, legal processes, contract tracking, and use of technology and AI.

Who You Are

  • A lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia, or eligible to become a member.
  • Experienced in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Able to assess legal risk in the context of the broader commercial opportunity.
  • Comfortable explaining legal issues clearly to non-lawyers.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple matters and competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of matters from start to finish.
  • Curious and willing to tackle legal issues outside your immediate area of expertise.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 2 to 4 years of corporate or commercial legal experience, either in private practice, in-house, or a combination of both.
  • Experience negotiating customer-facing MSAs and service agreements.
  • Experience working with technology, engineering, energy, or industrial businesses.
  • Experience supporting international operations or subsidiaries.
  • Interest in using technology and AI to make legal work more efficient.

General Salary Range

For this role, we anticipate paying $120,000 to $180,000 per year. Employees also receive health benefits (extended health, dental, and vision care) with premiums 100% paid for by the company.
