Job description

Meet Circuit Stream

Where big futures start. Circuit Stream is building the defining youth enrichment brand in North America. We create pre-university summer camps that give young people the chance to explore what they might want to do next, from AI, engineering, medicine and business to psychology, sports, outdoor adventure and more. Through partnerships with leading universities and industry experts, we turn those interests into hands-on experiences that build skills, confidence, and open doors to future opportunities. We have big ambitions to serve over 10,000+ students a year. Getting there means moving quickly, trying new things, learning from what works, and giving great people real ownership. If you’re ambitious about where your own career can go, and excited to help young people discover where theirs might lead, you’ll thrive here.

We’re looking for software engineers, AI practitioners, python educators, data professionals, or Masters/PhD students who can make Python, AI, machine learning, and robotics approachable for teenagers and create a classroom where students are excited to code, build, experiment, and learn.

Role Details

Delivery: In person at University of Calgary campus

Teaching dates and hours*:

  • June 28 - July 2, 2027 from 8:45am to 4:45 pm (AI & Machine Learning with Python)
  • July 5 - 9, 2027 from 8:45am to 4:45 pm (AI Robotics Lab)
  • August 3 - 6, 2027 from 8:45am to 4:45 pm (AI & Machine Learning with Python)
  • August 9 - 13, 2027 from 8:45am to 4:45 pm (AI Robotics Lab)
  • August 16 - 20, 2027 from 8:45am to 4:45 pm (AI & Machine Learning with Python)

Compensation: CAD1,500 to 1,650 per week

Training: Required instructor training/onboarding when hired; additional 2-3 hours in June before courses begin.

Other: A background check will be required before working with youth learners.

*Preference will be given to candidates who are available to teach multiple dates/courses.

Why You’ll Love This Role

You’ll help students ages 13–17 explore artificial intelligence through two different hands-on Python courses: AI and Machine Learning with Python and AI Robotics Lab. For AI and Machine Learning courses, students will build recommendation systems and interactive chatbots. For the AI Robotics Lab, students will assemble and program robot cars using sensors, computer vision, and trained AI models. The curriculum, lesson resources, activities, and robotics hardware are provided; your role is to make them engaging, accessible, and memorable while helping every student build confidence with Python coding and AI.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver Circuit Stream’s provided AI & Machine Learning with Python and/or AI Robotics Lab curriculum with energy, clarity, and strong classroom facilitation.
  • Guide students through Python coding, machine learning activities, chatbot and recommendation-system projects, robot assembly, sensors, motor control, computer vision, and autonomous-driving challenges while ensuring learners are meeting the course learning objectives.
  • Help beginners troubleshoot code and hardware, explain AI concepts in practical ways, and connect course activities to real-world applications and responsible AI use.
  • Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment and use appropriate behavior-management techniques to reinforce expectations, rules, responsible technology use, and safety requirements.
  • Supervise students during scheduled indoor and outdoor activities outside classroom instruction each day, while monitoring learner progress and communicating concerns or support needs to the Circuit Stream team.

What We’re Looking For

  • You genuinely enjoy working with teenagers and know how to keep a group engaged, participating, and excited to learn.
  • Professional, internship, academic, or substantial project experience in software engineering, AI, machine learning, data science, robotics, computer vision, or a closely related field.
  • A completed Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Robotics, Engineering, or a related discipline OR Masters/PhD in progress.
  • Proficiency in Python and a strong understanding of machine learning concepts; experience with APIs, computer vision, sensors, robotics, or hardware programming is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the patience to help beginners debug both code and physical systems.
  • Teaching, tutoring, mentoring, TA, training, camp, or youth-program experience is strongly preferred.

Who This Is For

  • Someone who gets energy from helping teenagers discover what they can build with Python, AI, and robotics.
  • A practical teacher who brings provided lessons to life through demonstrations, guided coding, hands-on building, experimentation, and challenges.
  • Someone who can make complex technical ideas feel approachable without oversimplifying them.
  • A patient problem-solver who is comfortable helping beginners debug code, sensors, hardware connections, and unexpected results.
  • Someone who is available to teach on weekdays during the summer for all course dates listed.

Who This Is Not For

  • If you enjoy AI, Python coding, or robotics but do not enjoy spending your day actively working with teenagers.
  • If your preferred teaching style is primarily lecture-based or demonstration-only, without giving students frequent opportunities to code, build, and experiment.
  • If you become frustrated when beginners need repeated explanation, debugging support, encouragement, or redirection.
  • If you are uncomfortable working with hands-on robotics hardware, enforcing classroom expectations, supervising students outside the classroom, or taking responsibility for safety.

What’s In It For You

  • The opportunity to introduce teenagers to Python, AI, machine learning, robotics, and future technology careers.
  • A complete curriculum, lesson resources, activities, robotics hardware, instructor training, and support from Circuit Stream’s Education team.
  • A community of instructors and educators to connect with and learn from.
  • A rewarding summer role where you can strengthen your teaching and mentorship skills while helping students build projects they are proud to demonstrate.

Ready to Apply?

Apply with your resume and a short note answering two questions:

  • Why do you enjoy teaching and working with teenagers?
  • What Python, AI, machine learning, or robotics concept would you be excited to make interesting and understandable for a teenager?

We’re committed to creating an inclusive and respectful workplace and learning environment where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are valued. What makes us different makes us stronger. If this sounds like a role where you could help students thrive, apply today.
