FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ON AN INVENTORY
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- What is an inventory?
An inventory is a bank of applications. If your application is retained in inventory, it is available to be considered by a hiring manager, when there is a need to fill a position (please refer to the section entitled “Intent of the process”).- How do I apply to this inventory?
Applicants are encouraged to apply online using the Public Service Resourcing System. If there is something preventing you from doing so, communicate with the contact information at the bottom of this advertisement to discuss alternate ways of applying for this employment opportunity.- Why was my application automatically rejected when I submitted it?
In order to be included in the inventory, you must meet the essential qualifications of education and experience. If you receive an "Application rejected at screening" message immediately after submitting your application, you have probably answered "No" to one or more of the screening questions assessing the essential qualifications. If you have incorrectly indicated "No" for an essential qualification, simply retrieve your application and update your answer(s).• What does " Retained. If chosen, you may be contacted for further consideration " mean?
Once your application has been successfully submitted to the inventory, your status may be: "Retained. If selected, you may be contacted for further consideration". This automatically generated message by the system means that your application can be considered. You will be informed in the event that your application is considered as part of a pull from this inventory.- What happens if my application expires?
Your application will be kept in the inventory for 120 days. A notice will be posted in the "My Job File" menu of your GC Jobs account advising that your application will expire in 30 days and asking you to resubmit your application. You may also receive an e-mail from the system. It is important that you monitor these messages and resubmit your application when prompted, or your application will be removed from the inventory. This ensures that the information that is provided to hiring managers is current and up-to-date, as well as ensuring that the candidates in the inventory are still interested in employment.- Can I update my application once it has been submitted to the inventory?
You can choose to update your application when you resubmit it to the inventory, or anytime that something changes that will impact your application. For example, if you gain more experience in an area that is related to the qualifications outlined in the inventory, it would be beneficial to update your application to reflect this. Since hiring managers screen applications based on the information you provided in the screening questions, it is recommended that you include experience gained after you initially submitted your application to ensure they have all of the relevant information. This also applies to changes in your education level and personal information.
