At Ackard, our projects run Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM—no evenings, no weekends, and no on-call stress. You’ll get all statutory holidays off, plus we shut down for about a week over Christmas so you can truly unplug. We’re a close-knit team that values family, collaboration, and balance. If you’re looking for a place to put down roots, grow your skills, and enjoy coming to work each day, you’ll feel right at home here. You’ll be involved in hands-on work across all phases of construction, from demolition and framing to finishing and detailing. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Arriving early to ensure the site is ready for immediate productivity
  • Reading blueprints, scopes, and work orders; asking questions to confirm understanding
  • Performing demolition work to prepare for construction
  • Framing and installing foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials like wood, steel, concrete, and composites
  • Erecting scaffolding and ladders for above-ground work
  • Installing doors, windows, hardware, interior and exterior finishes
  • Completing drywall, patching, painting, tile work, and finishing carpentry
  • Performing concrete work including form setup, mixing, and pouring
  • Working alongside sub-trades to ensure smooth, coordinated project flow
  • Logging daily work and updates using Buildertrend construction software
  • Keeping a clean and organized jobsite through regular housekeeping
  • Following all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Contributing to team success by stepping in wherever needed within your skill set
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in working order and ensuring machines are serviced regularly
  • Performing daily hazard assessments and participating in weekly toolbox meetings
  • Following all Ackard safety protocols, standards, and procedures, and adhering to building codes and regulations

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about their work, eager to contribute to a team, and committed to delivering high-quality results.

  • Journeyman Carpenter certification
  • Extensive experience in residential renovations, including structural framing
  • Comfortable working at heights on tasks like roofing and exterior finishes
  • Valid Fall Arrest and Elevated Work Platform certifications
  • Current Standard First Aid certification
  • Strong safety mindset with an eye for spotting hazards and taking steps to prevent incidents
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record
  • Equipped with your own set of tools and ready to work
  • Professional, personable, and confident in client-facing situations
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable using construction software
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work within project timelines
  • Motivated, reliable, and committed to supporting your team’s success

What We Offer

We believe great people deserve great support. Here's what you can expect when you work with us:

  • Be part of an award-winning residential renovation company with over 40 years of success and a strong track record of continued growth.
  • Competitive compensation that reflects your skills and experience.
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits through Sun Life.
  • Employee & Family Assistance Program.
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Life insurance.
  • Voluntary RRSP plan with company contributions.
  • Professional development, training, and career growth opportunities.
  • Paid personal and sick time.
  • Positive, team-driven culture built on collaboration and respect.
  • Birthday, work anniversary, and milestone recognition.
  • Christmas holiday shutdown.
  • Team-building and social events.
  • Strong commitment to work-life balance with little to no overtime.

Working Conditions
This position involves hands-on work in both interior and exterior residential construction environments. Team members must be comfortable working in variable conditions and adapting to the physical demands of a dynamic job site.

  • Work takes place on residential renovation and custom home build sites
  • Frequent and routine work at heights, including on ladders, scaffolding, roofs, and elevated platforms
  • Exposure to all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
  • Regular lifting of materials up to 50 lbs; occasional assisted lifts up to 75 lbs
  • Physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and handling tools
  • Work may be performed in confined, elevated, dusty, or noisy environments
  • Regular use of power tools, hand tools, ladders, and scaffolding is expected
  • Appropriate PPE must be worn at all times (hard hat, safety boots, eye and ear protection)
  • Standard schedule: Monday to Friday, daytime hours
  • Minimal overtime and no out-of-town travel
