Job description

About LabX Media Group

LabX Media Group is a science media company that produces monthly print publications and hosts a variety of digital media platforms and websites. We are an organization that is in high growth mode, both organic as well as through a full spectrum of acquisitions. We have been named to the PROFIT 500: Canada's Fastest-Growing Companies list for 6 years running and are one of only a few companies in all of Simcoe County.

About LabX
LabX.com is our B2B marketplace connecting buyers and sellers of laboratory equipment and products. We're looking for a Junior Product Manager to own the marketplace's day-to-day management: keeping both sides healthy and well-served, keeping operations running smoothly, and making sure the teams that depend on the platform have what they need.

About the Role

This is a hands-on ownership role. You'll be accountable for the marketplace's operational health, not just passing information between teams. You will report to the Senior Product Manager for LabX and work closely with the Product Development Manager and the EVP of Product & Innovation, drawing on web development, marketing, and customer support to execute.

It's also a role built to grow. You'll start close to the day-to-day, and the operational knowledge you build - how sellers actually use the platform, where buyers get stuck, which metrics move together - is exactly what feeds the strategic work you'll take on more of over time. You'll have direct mentorship from the Senior PM and visibility into roadmap and strategy discussions from day one.

Responsibilities:

  • Marketplace health and reporting. Own core marketplace metrics and the regular reporting cadence around them. Track trends, flag opportunities and risks, and bring clear analysis to roadmap and prioritization discussions.
  • Seller and user success. Serve as the product-side owner of seller outcomes day-to-day. Support Sales and Client Services with seller performance data, technical escalations, and monitoring of seller-level results. Build direct relationships with customers and meet with them to understand and articulate their needs.
  • Day-to-day marketplace operations. Run the operational side of the marketplace: maintain and improve SOPs, keep processes documented and consistent, manage client expectations, and act as the point of escalation and communication layer between teams and stakeholders.
  • Strategy execution. Help roll out strategic initiatives across the business, keeping sales, editorial, web development, and marketing aligned to brand strategy and business requirements as changes land.
  • Metrics and success criteria. Work with stakeholders to define and track success criteria for business programs and activities. Monitor key metrics for risks and opportunities and communicate them in a way that shapes decisions.
  • Continual improvement. Identify friction in the LabX experience - for buyers, sellers, and the internal teams who support them - and drive improvements alongside product and development.
  • Operational Communication: Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to support the product management process and ensure strategic direction is facilitated across departments

Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years of experience in product, operations, analytics, or a related role in a digital or eCommerce business
  • Comfort with quantitative analysis: you can pull data, find the story in it, and explain that story clearly to a non-technical audience
  • Strong organizational instincts and the ability to prioritize and keep things moving with minimal guidance
  • Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to collaborate across very different disciplines and departments
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, business, or equivalent practical experience

Considered an asset:

  • Previous experience in general or product management in a marketplace or multi-vendor environment
  • Knowledge of eCommerce, B2B purchasing, or supply chain
  • Familiarity with web analytics tools, SQL, or BI/reporting platforms
  • Background in scientific, laboratory, or technical equipment markets

Application Procedure:

This position is remotely based and is open to all eligible candidates in Canada. Preference will be given to candidates in the Eastern time zone.

This job posting is for a current vacancy.
