Coquitlam, British Columbia

Full-Cycle Estimating | Client-First | Precision & Accountability

About Leading Edge Electric

Leading Edge Electric is an electrical contractor focused on service work, tenant improvements, and special projects.

We are a values driven company building long-term relationships with owners, construction managers, and property managers who share those values and trust us to get things done properly. Our goal is to understand what matters most to our clients and deliver value that improves outcomes for everyone involved.

We are building a disciplined, well-run company defined by:

  • Clear expectations and accountability
  • Strong leadership at every level
  • Repeatable systems that drive consistent outcomes
  • A team that takes ownership and executes at a high standard

This is a place for people who want to lead, build something meaningful, and be accountable for outcomes.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Electrical Estimator is responsible for full-cycle estimating — from lead qualification through turnover to operations.

This role is about more than pricing drawings. It is about:

  • Understanding the client’s real needs through ongoing communication
  • Creating clarity before a job starts
  • Identifying opportunities to add value
  • Protecting margin by reducing operational risk

You will play a key role in shaping our pipeline, strengthening client and vendor relationships, while continuously improving our estimating systems.

What You Will Own:

  • Build relationships and communicate with customers to develop clear scopes of work that are aligned with project goals and value proposition
  • Build relationships and communicate with vendors for the procurement of project materials
  • Prepare timely, accurate, detailed estimates
  • Read and interpret drawings, specs, and tender documents
  • Identify risks, gaps, and scope issues early
  • Support operations with purchasing and change order pricing
  • Ensure smooth turnover to operations
  • Maintain a live pipeline report
  • Track estimate vs. actual performance
  • Present weekly estimating updates
  • Deliver post-job variance summaries
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of our estimating systems, processes and database

What We’re Looking For:

Experience

  • 10+ years commercial electrical experience
  • 2+ years estimating experience (design-assist and TI preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of CEC and local codes
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Accubid, or equivalent tools
  • Strong understanding of labor productivity and installation methods
  • Knowledge of contracts and construction conditions

Candidate Characteristics:

  • Hold high standards for accuracy and execution
  • Think critically and anticipate risk
  • Communicate clearly and directly
  • Take ownership of results
  • Prefer structure and measurable performance
  • Want to build systems that scale

Candidate Seeks:

  • A role which allows for individual initiative within a team environment, at times providing guidance to others, while also completing personal tasks
  • Seeks recognition for their attention to detail; their ability to accept and follow guidelines; and produce dependable work
  • Is motivated by work which combines predictable activity with the need to meet specific deadlines
  • Is motivated by: measurable goals; an opportunity to develop structures and systems; confirmation of their contributions - and input on how they can improve their performance

This role suits someone who is analytical, disciplined, and driven — but who understands that genuine, intentional relationships matter as much as numbers.
